Bill Richardson Plans North Korea Trip
Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson plans to travel to North Korea for meetings with government officials from the hardline communist nation.

Richardson plans to make the trip in early April, officials familiar with the trip told The Associated Press on Friday. They spoke on condition of anonymity because plans were still being completed.

The New Mexico governor is a frequent diplomatic traveler. He was in Sudan in January to meet with government leaders and made a trip to the Darfur region where he visited refugee camps.

1. If Richardson Has Any Hopes of Winning
He needs something to 1) get him on the front page, even if it's throwing up on Kim Jong Il, and 2) make somebody, anyone, stand up in public and say "Bill Richardson is my Number One choice." As it stands, he's this year's Bob Graham -- well qualified, well respected, and every thinking person's number two choice.

3. Americans will love Richardson, if they get a chance
to meet him. With Hillary and Obama sharing the headlines, it's going to be hard for him to get any attention.
You're right a little vomit on Kim would work.

I just donated to his campaign.

2. We need someone like Richardson to undo all the damage
Bush has done to our foreign reputation. He loves diplomacy, which is a presidential must in 08.

9. I really like Richardson but have been cautious because of the rumor
crap that has scared people off a bit.

His appearance on The Daily Show helped me with this because, along with him doing great on it IMO, he also mentioned a little story about Saddam Hussein which ended with him saying he reached over and touched SH's leg and all the bodyguard people yanked out blades and guns all over the place.

The touchy stuff had been what "some people" had talked about and we haven't really known if it went farther or not but we do know it makes some people uncomfortable (i.e. the Lt Gov story).

The story with Hussein just showed that that is how he reacts naturally and it isn't about womanizing or anything else.

I may have read too much into it but I thought it was interesting and helpful.

10. very good move by him in fact he should go to Iran and defuse the hostage crisis...
that would put him in the media as a foreign policy expert and possibly getting him in the first tier of candidates.
