Giuliani: Wife won't be Cabinet member
Giuliani: Wife won't be Cabinet member

WASHINGTON - Republican presidential contender Rudy Giuliani said Friday his wife will not be a member of his Cabinet or attend most high-level meetings as he sought to clarify his previous statements suggesting she would play a significant role in his administration.

Giuliani, in interview comments released Thursday, had said he'd be open to his wife attending Cabinet meetings on issues in which she's interested. "If she wanted to. If they were relevant to something that she was interested in. I mean that would be something that I'd be very, very comfortable with," Giuliani told Barbara Walters on ABC News' "20/20."

Late Friday, the Giuliani campaign issued a statement in which the former New York City mayor suggested that would not be the case.

"Obviously, she will not be a Cabinet member or attend most Cabinet meetings — if any. But she will pursue a campaign to educate Americans on preventing illness and promoting overall health."

3. "promoting overall health"
Tall talk, Rudy.

His wife was formerly a pharma sales rep.

What a fu**ing joke.

5. He's launching his entire presidential campaign on 9/11
He has nothing else. Nobody remembers him fondly as mayor at all.

He's the most shallow presidential candidate since, well, George W. Bush.

7. There's these pesky little details
too.. Frightening things coming back to haunt rudy toot toody.

"The fundamental lack of respect that Giuliani showed our FDNY members is unforgivable <...>. Our disdain for him is not about issues or a disputed contract, it is about a visceral, personal affront to the fallen, to our union and, indeed, to every one of us who has ever risked our lives by going into a burning building to save lives and property."

And, of course, there's the whole kerik thingy..

9. He'd be a big one.
Imagine the fire fighters of NYC. They wouldn't even let him come to their convention.
Think they might run a few commercials? ...FACT BASED.

I think so. He's got a bad case of GRANDIOSITY!

6. K&R for utter stupidity on Rudy's part. People HATE nepotism...

What a ding bat. His wife gets to listen in on top security, classified meetings becasue it's "something that she was interested in." Not all cabinet meetings are like that, in fact they're pretty dull I suspect but there are times when things get hot. Not to worry, the criterion is simple - something interesting.

This guy is horrid, period.

On edit: Forgot the Rec, just did it.

8. We need to nominate someone likeable ...
the Republicans will almost certainly nominate either Rudy or Fred Thompson. Whatever their politics, Rudy and Thompson are both likeable guys to most poeple. Rudy made a pretty good appearance on Barbara Walters. His wife was trying to overdo the whole preppy look, but she didn't embarass herself.

I see Obama as being the guy to take on either of them- if it's Hillary too many people will just think "I like Fred/Rudy but not Hillary so I'll vote Republican."

10. We need to win, that's for sure.

Rudy is likable like Bush is likable. People will find out about Rudy very quickly.

Thompson is a jack ass. Won't take long for him to portray himself as the bumbler that he is.

I want us to win but this time people will want someone who can get the job done and who tells
the truth. Gore, Clark, Dean. They all told the truth and they did it when the truth was not
fashionable.

The big difference this time around is that the media will play it's least effective role ever.
I say "effective" because they're all about manipulation.

Network news audience share is down to record lows and most big news papers see a 10 year life
span for their print editions. The internet has filled a lot of the void and many people are
turned off by the news. In the Iraq unraveling and finger pointing, it won't be "Who lost Iraq?"
It will be who the heck got us there. The media is public enemy #1 at that point. There's no
way Rudy and the bloviating Thompson can stand the examination. I have a lot of faith in the
American public and the huge shift without any Corporate Media help has been self education and
peer contact via the internet.

Likable won't be the only criteria and I'm pretty sure it won't be a major criteria, given our
candidates ability to show high levels of competence and responsiveness to the people. This time
it's going to be the smart, pissed off candidate that wins. Rudy and Fred T lack the smarts and
lets see them get pissed off...at who, themselves;)

Could be wrong but I'm optimistic about the people and their ability to vote for survival.
