Does anyone have a link to an article about the term liberals

I am debating a closet freeper and I am looking for a link to one of those great articles that explains how the right wingers demonized the term liberals and how it gives them an advantage.

1. What is there to debate?

It should be obvious to anyone -- liberal or conservative -- who has been paying even the slightest bit of attention to politics over the last two decads that conservatives have demonized the term liberal.

3. To many it is, but to others it is not

I have read a few really good articles explaining the huge advantage the righties gained by successfully demonizing this term. I was hoping for a link to one of those articles.

2. Google is our friend. Put in "liberal as pejorative".

Gee, to think I went thru 3 years of suffering thru histography and reading every word written in English on slavery for my MA and then 2 more of library school for my MLIS to answer this one!

There are a ton of articles on this topic thru those search search terms alone. I could think of some more terms, too, such as "liberal defense" or even just "liberal US".

It is all in how one phrases the search!
