John Edwards For President Fundraising Deadline
I just came out of the conference room in our office, where our whole staff has joined the volunteers making calls to beat this midnight fundraising deadline. There's energy in the air -- we're getting close. I've been calling supporters from Michigan, my home state. A woman I spoke with last night put it very well (I'm paraphrasing here):

"All my life I've been hoping someone would just come out there and do something about what everyone can see needs to be fixed, things like, health care, poverty, global warming, all this stuff that's obvious but no one is doing anything about it. Now here's John Edwards, finally getting the nation to pay attention, finally saying it's time to do something! So yes, I'll donate, because I want the whole country to listen up, and this is my way of making that happen."

We all have different reasons we support this campaign. But whatever our different dreams for this country, we all face the same deadline at 11:59 PM tonight to make it happen. We're charging hard towards our new $3 million online goal, but we aren't there yet. If each us just put in a little bit more in the 7 hours we have left, I know we can make it.

There is no 'later' on this one. Tonight sets the course for the rest of the campaign, and this moment won't come again. Will you be the one who gets us across the finish line?

What's my personal reason? It's simple really. I was raised to believe in the fight for economic and social justice. And there is no better leader in that struggle today than John Edwards.

I'm sure you have your own reason. In fact, after you contribute, hit 'reply' to this email and send me a note about what did it for you.

I know thousands of you have already contributed, and you're why we're on the verge of success today. And if you haven't yet found the right time to give, well, your moment is here.

For all the million different reasons, I thank you.

David Bonior
Campaign Manager
John Edwards for President

P.S. - Remember, you have till 11:59 PM tonight in your local time zone to make your donation online and still beat the deadline.

1. Thanks Babs! John is my guy unless, Al gets in the race, although
I will always support Dennis Kucinich and will work my ass off for him if his campaign heats up. I like Obama, too.

I am grateful we have some very impressive candidates. And hope for cleaner elections with H.R. 811 and the news about the link between the Atty. General scandal and the GOP's frivolous voter fraud cases making it clear that they've been all about manipulating elections since Watergate (at least).

:hi:

2. I just sent a few bucks --
In part because I want to see somebody besides Hillary raise money. It's sad that the measure of who gets the nomination is financial -- all that money pissed away on TV ads. But I sent a contribution to Edwards' campaign because of the candidates who are currently running I like him the best. If Wes Clark runs, though, he has my full support.

In the meantime, anybody but Hillary.

every little bit helps. :)

Edwards, Gore and Kucinich make it tough to choose just one candidate!

7. Gore and Edwards...
Are you waiting for Gore to enter the race, too?

It will be very exciting when he does! I've been throwing time and money in John's direction too, (being as we live right around the corner from him).

11. I adore all three, but if Al wants his rightful place in DC

I'm there! :woohoo:(as long as he picks a decent running mate this time, lol)

As much as I love DK, I just don't believe he stands a chance. I would love to see him as Al or Edwards' Secretary of State!

Have you met the Edwards? How cool to live close to such great people.

13. The Edwards are fantastic people!
I've talked with John Edwards briefly and will have an opportunity to meet with him in a professional capacity later this summer. He is very engaging, even when he doesn't have a lot of time, he manages to have a two way conversation with almost everybody he meets.

I'd be very happy with Edwards as the nominee, but Gore/Edwards is a real dream ticket. I hate to count Obama out, but he has some time to get his feet wet...

I think Hillary, even though she's proven they can raise a ton of cash, won't win the nomination (at least, I sure as hell hope she doesn't).

Cheers Vic! :toast:

9. I don't have extra cash to donate right now, but I can K & R
Edited on Sat Mar-31-07 07:23 PM by Heaven and Earth
This summer, I plan to make up for my lack of cash through volunteering.

John Edwards has my vote, and I don't expect that to change unless he's captured by aliens and zapped by their Gephardtization machine (and if anyone gets that reference, you are amazingly cool!)
