Club for Growth pulling a Chafee
"Sen. Gordon Smith (R-OR) "could face potential trouble within his own party," reports the AP.

"There are rumors that Smith might draw a primary challenge from the party's right wing." The Club for Growth "is making noises about possibly bankrolling such an effort."

"Anti-tax activist Bill Sizemore, who was trounced when he ran against then-Democratic Gov. John Kitzhaber in 1998, said recently that he's giving thought to possibly taking on Smith."

Remember that in 2006 Club for Growth financed a primary against Lincoln Chafee which hurt him financially and pretty much handed us his seat. Go Bill go!

1. Wow, I didn't realize it was possible to be that insane.
Are we sure we aren't secretly funding the Club for Growth? They seem to be our biggest allies recently.

4. Well, insanity means repeating an action you know is bad or won't work....
Over and over again....

2. If they want to keep the rest of the Republicans towing the line they have to go after him. (nt)

3. The primary challenge will come from the right. Since he's been a big ally
in our anti-war efforts, I'd hate to see him go unless he's replaced with a Dem.

5. What makes CG think Sizemore can win when he got trounced in another major statewide race?
