Obama Smacks McCain Over Baghdad Stroll
By Greg Sargent | bio

From the Assciated Press:

Democrat Barack Obama on Tuesday challenged Republican White House rival John McCain for using a heavily guarded trip to a Baghdad market as evidence that Iraq's security is improving.

McCain and other members of a congressional delegation toured the Bab al-Sharqi market last week, traveling in armored military vehicles and wearing body armor during their hourlong excursion.

"The idea that the situation in Iraq is improving because it takes a security detail of 100 soldiers, three Black Hawk helicopters and a couple of Apache gunships to walk through a market in the middle of Baghdad is simply not credible and not reflective of the facts on the ground," Obama said in a taped interview that will air as part of a Democratic presidential forum sponsored by MoveOn.org.

2. When's HRC...
... going to learn how? If it's so easy why is it so rare that we hear this sort of obvious slap-down?

3. I am losing interest in Obama also he seems too contrived
at first I thought he was a fresh new face but he is using all the talking points.

And did you see the news. There is a battle raging at this time between out troops and the insurgents on the streets of Baghdad...Boy that surge is working especially in the safe streets of Baghdad.

4. Those "talking points"
may seem stale and trite to you, but most of the American people never hear them. The MSM certainly isn't going to say them on their own, and hearing only the lies and spin of the right, Americans are never going to hear anything approaching the truth.

So good for Obama. It's not his job to preach to the choir, it's his job to get more people in church.

7. the murkan people have tuned out the MSM
either they only hear hate radio & foxnews (my parents), or they pay no attention whatsoever (my sister).

5. "Smacks" What is up with AP? Two headlines regarding dems with this word in the title
this word was also used to describe what HRC did to the media regarding Pelosi.

Why not use the word "criticize" or "condemn" - why this childishness?

6. Next headline:
"Obama Beats the Crap out of Bush on Iraq Policy"

"Bush Offers Gentle Criticism for Clinton's Iraq Position"
