People powered Howard speaks to the lowest common Dean nominators.
Working and out of work Americans -- the natural base of the Democratic party.

We like our leaders blunt, unpolished, tough, sharp and caring. Dr. Dean has the prescription for what's ailing our once great democracy -- active mass participation. And the mushy middle is about to hop on Dean's bandwagon despite the whining of establishment Dems and other US imperialists.

1. Maybe we really can have
the country we learned about as children. We'll see.

3. "working and out of work americans" what a stupid comment
I didn't know that the parties base included every single person in the country

5. There's a difference between being out of work and not needing to work.

Dean's base extends to every single American who has to work for a living as well as the enlightened among those who don't.

8. "the enlightened who don't" who like Dean and other rich blue-bloods?
If only I could be so enlightened as to have their birthright, not work, and just tell the little people what to do.

4. "We like our leaders blunt, unpolished, tough, sharp and caring".
These are the exact same characteristics that
Chimpleton claims he possesses. It is up to our
nominee to expose the lies. It is up to us
to hold our nominee's feet to the fire. He/she
must know we will accept no spineless dithering.

Call and write your reps.

6. Bush never claimed he was sharp.
And as far as caring goes, he only cares for other privileged millionaires.

15. Well,
1)Touting an MBA implies "sharpness" although I'll
concede the point.

2)This only reinforces my statement. "Compassionate
Coservatism" implies caring for others. Our candidate
must shine the spotlight on "which" others.

7. Dean's curious; an anti-Washington-politics campaign seeking the center...
... of Washington politics. Anybody can talk big about the evils of Washington, but actually accomplishing real change there is something else.

14. If Bush can accomplish so much
change to the right, why is it impossible that Dean or Clark or Edwards or Kucinich or another good Dem can't? Especially given that Bush's policies are not those endorsed by the majority of the American people.

Dean, like Clark, is a good candidate, and I'll vote for either if nominated. In fact, I've donated to both, and feel energized by both.

I have many, many Dem friends who feel the same. We can change things, and we must.

9. Who was it who talked about the "stupidity of the masses"??? Do these
Edited on Sat Dec-27-03 08:23 PM by Gloria
masses involved in active participation know anything about the positions on issues they're signing onto?? Or is this very hard core bunch just priming their anger pumps at the expense of actually finding out? And how many are switich parties to vote in the primaries, only to then switch back again...to the GOP? It's a talked about possibility here in NM...where else?

11. Yeah, we're all a bunch of raving lunatics with no clue about Dean.
None at all. We're working and contributing to Dean's campaign only because we've been really bored since the Beanie Baby craze died out.

13. Come on, stickdog, she didn't say that.

She was talking about people who glom on to any bandwagon. We all know those people exist. They don't care about issues, just about being on the "winning team." They approach elections like high school football rivalries.
Does that describe you?

That's why I've been working for Dean for over a year now.

10. Nice pun in your subject line -- full points.

I will point out that it it not only "establishment Dems and other US imperialists" who think Dean is the wrong man for the job and will not get the support you think he will.

Many of us find him to be too far to the right, which I doubt would be a reason for establishment Dems or other US imperialists to oppose him, as they would favor a candidate right of center like Dean.

Establishment Dems who oppose him often support another candidate who is not a leftist, either, and US imperialists presumably vote GOP for the most part.

But it was a good pun. ;-) "Lowest common Dean nominators."
