Here is where I think the grassroots, the clattering typepads of the Blogosphere, have our calling--sure we can give good press and talk up our chosen candidates a treat, but the signal gifts bestowed on us are the abilities to research and complain. And really, why fight it? Here we are, a mass of folks with keyboards and free time and gripes, many willing to work gratis, and theoretically capable of reaching anywhere in the world wired to modems.

It's the looming and almost avuncular, gee-gosh, "testing the waters" committee (see--everyone else had an "exploratory committee", but that was not near folksy enough) spectre of a Fred (He's-an-actor-so-you-can-start-thinking-"Reagan"-,- people) Thompson run for the presidency:
