Edwards revealing leadership and distinction on issues
Edwards has done well in showing his differences from other presidential candidates. The debate is thought provoking, and Edwards lays out details in his plans. CNN is talking about Edwards during the break a lot. The campaign said he would attempt to make a distinction as he has done.

Is Edwards what we are looking for in a front runner, nominee and president? The details that Edwards give is important, he makes a crucial point on the 47 million people without health care, if mandated the children, well the children are children that don't make choices and mandated universal health care would cover them. This is something that lacks in the details from other candidates. While we want a bright president, Edwards has shown that he is a LEADER and can govern the federal government, become the world's leading diplomat, and look out for those in need like people without health care or those who are in poverty or on the edge.

Edwards has championed for the Middle Class, and it is sad that during this debate, which has been incredibly informative, so far that there is not any mention on the working class and the middle class. The middle class doesn't save money - an average negative -1.7% in savings, 80% of the middle class is in debt, living as a family of four may, and not so extreme to think,be unpractical. The Upper Class has a new extra car, a new house, and lives lavishly in nice fat tax cuts. We need someone like John Edwards to speak for this large group of Americans. Indeed, one America that does all the work and one America that reaps all the rewards is not so far off from reality. Edwards will continue to evolve as a candidate that voters will listen too and as they become familiar with his candidacy and campaign it will lead him to the nomination.

1. You're certainly entitled to your opinion
I, however, disagree.

3. Edwards did exactly what he needed to do: Stand out and be an alternative.
Compare and contrast with Obama and Clinton. And be forceful and thoughtful in doing so. He did just that, and IMO stole the debate.

11. "Instead of ending the war in Iraq, I'll travel the world!"
"If elected, what you you do in your first one hundred days?"
Johnny Edwards: "I'll travel the world!"
Wrong answer, Johnny.

12. His first few days
Shut down Gitmo (he knows he has executive authority, and thus, that would bring back habeas corpus)

Healthcare

No, he didn't say that in this debate, but he was trying to say, "let's get our friends back to the table".

Bigger picture:

1) War may be legacy, thus it has to be ended with diplomacy, bring folks in NE together
2) New possible fires, Iran
3) Poverty and trade problems globally and why we need to talk with everyone. That is why wars and aggression happen. Munich and Syriana as movies are prime examples.
4) Congress will legislate most of domestic policy to begin with. He will leave them with examples, they have to act.
5) Commander in chief's first job is global security for us, not just regional or national.

13. Well, If That's What You Took From His Answer O Will Have To
Disagree. I want the war ended, but it's just do "dicey" even though I ALWAYS try to push the issue. By '08 we may be in SUPER bad shape, so it may be the FIRST thing that should be done... however what I think he was saying is that we as Americans NEED to reconnect with other Nations and STOP being the BIG BULLY!

FWIW, it's something we seriously need to do. Perhaps by doing so, we can get the much needed help and support from other countries to help America extricate itself from this CHAOS going on! Simply saying "I will end the war" is just too pat an answer for me.

And I do agree that "The War On Terror" is a bumper sticker!

14. exactly the right answer
the end of the war takes one minute: "Generals, have all troops out by such and such date. Iraqis, all our soldiers will be out by such and such date."

15. He was so forceful this
time around - compared to the last "debate". Hillary did not do well in responding to his WOT bumper sticker and that's not going to resonate well with the anti-war crowd.

K&R!

16. Question: When did he champion the Middle Class?
Now, when he has no say-so in determining much or when he was a senator, when he DID have a say-so.

The way I read his record is that he helped big banking far more than the middle class as a senator.
