Aaron Brown to do panel discussion on Kerry's "Intern Problem"
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 07:16 PM by khephra
"All day yesterday the "net" and conservative talk radio was
abuzz about a Matt Drudge item suggesting John Kerry had
an intern problem if you get my drift. We didn't touch
it because we had no facts. Today, the Senator denied
it. Is it now news? Jeff Greenfield looks at the story
with his media critic hat on, and then will stick around
and join a group of guests as we try to sort this one
out."

(From Mail)

OK, just to make it clear here -- I'm not pushing this story. I hope it's nothing but a RW smear.

I, HOWEVER, want to point out the basis for posting this.

CNN doesn't know if the situation is news. Right? So, they're now going to sit around and talk about it just because Kerry denied it and judge whether it's actually news or not? Isn't that making it news in of itself?

The Mind Boggles.

1. It's all moving along according to Karl Rove's plan
Hmmm...You'd think he had some experience in these matters.

2. We'll just have to see
I'm not worried about some panel on CNN talking about it. If there's some evidence, that's different.

6. It sounds like they're going to be discussing
whether it's even a story, not whether it's true or not. I guess that's better than nothing for Karl.

7. I imagine if it becomes a problem for Kerry
he'll address it more. His campaign must be monitoring this.

9. Aaron Brown is one smarmy, smirking whore.
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 07:29 PM by LibDemAlways
The chimp has brought us pre-emptive war, records deficits, and the most corrupt administration in history, and Brown chooses to waste valuable air time on whether or not some Rove approved Kerry smear is "news"? And his CNN bosses are letting him get away with it? This is whoredom worthy of FAUX.

gave it mention on WTT, and also carried Kerry's non-denial.

23. Kerry has NOT denied it.
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 11:24 PM by seventhson
His exact words were:

"Well, there is nothing to report," Kerry told IMUS. "So there is nothing to talk about. I'm not worried about it. No."

THAT is what is known as a Non-denial denial.

He did not say it did not happen. He said there is nothing to talk about.

My guess is that like Clinton he has to tell Theresa before he admits it to the rest of us. The Imus "denial" was not supposed to happen.

If Clinton lied to Hillar7y and then lied to US to cover it up -- I would expect the same thing to happen with kerry.

His life as he knows it is over if he confesses to this shit. But he also cannot be caught LYING about it because his political career may then well be over. So he waffled like crazy in my opinion.

He is denying it to Theresa Heinz, I'll bet -- and he may have to be busted some more before he fesses up (if it is tue).

if it is totally false -- then he would have said it was a "damnable lie" and attacked Drudge.

I personally believe he is lying and it is hurting the Dems and we need to coalesce behind Dean and Edwards and Dennis.

Right now he is in denial and is trying to ignore it.

It won't work.

26. Wrong.
He said today in Wisconsin it is "not true", "a rumor", and "totally false". If you continue (how many posts today?) to insist that this does not constitute a denial, then one of us needs a dictionary.

11. Oh, right! And Kerry had an affair with...
a sheep named Suzie. When she broke it off, he was wasted on Woolite for months. Never know when that'll happen again. Unfit, that's what he is. Unfit to be President. Our current fearless leader, a lying, murdering, elite piece of shit, should be given another four years to complete his plundering.

14. Well, one interesting point Brown et al. made was that the media
in some cases cannot control (be the gatekeepers for) what the public knows is in the news--like this rumor.

They really didn't handle it that badly.

19. So what they are saying is
So what he is saying is we need editors to monitor low life sights like Drudge. Also didnt Chuck Todd say the rumor was false and pointed out that it was 6hrs of fodder for Hannity and Limbaugh.

21. It seemed to me that each one of them stopped short of making
any kind of judgment about the veracity of the rumor, but they did refer to it as a rumor.

One of them suggested that the media might find a role in thwarting rumors for what they are by finding out who is responsible for them.

And yes, they did talk about the dominance of the right wing media, especially talk radio.

18. Hey, Aaron! When are you going to do a panel discussion on James R Bath?
Bush is connected directly to bin Laden through James R Bath, Bush's TANG buddy who went on to handle bin Laden family's US business dealings. When the media finally start examining the documents, they'll tie the AwOL story to 9-11. That shows Bush knew bin Laden from way back. And he didn't tell and he didn't stop 9-11. That's treason.

to cast my vote based on the candidate's membership in a college fraternity. Holy shit! What if Kerry had been a Deke or a Sig Ep? They have secret handshakes and everything!!!!

protection from them. What's their plan? Why haven't they shut down folks who are actively on their trail?

It was an excellent disscussion
I wish the media was always like this. Honestly talked about smears and rumors and why they spread, what to do about it.

Very classy, and I'm really impressed by Brown who at times is (grr).

31. I agree - they handled it perfectly
The segment was titled 'Smear wars', and was more about how 'respectable' news media is being affected by internet rumormongers like Drudge, more than it was about Kerry. They stated plainly that there is no evidence whatsoever.
