Suppose Kerry is the nominee. Who is the best AG?
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 08:25 PM by WillyBrandt
Suppose the expected happens, and Kerry is the nominee. WHo would you like his Attorney General to be?

Eliot Spitzer or John Edwards?

They are both great guys, party stars, and are both looking to be President one day. Edwards would have nothing to do if he weren't AG (or VP). Spitzer could hold onto his job (I think) and be NY Gov, then run for President.

Any other obvious choices? Spitzer and Edwards are the only ones who come to mind.

Incidentally, I wouldn't mind either appointed to the SC...

(Mods: A related thread exists, but I'd like to work through the list explicitly here...)

1. I vote for Spitzer...
He's got the obvious experience of taking on the crooked corporations.

David Boies would also be a fine choice.

4. Edwards for SCOTUS
I like that idea, Dookus. I'd been thinking of Edwards for AG, but there would be more benefits to having him on the Supreme Court.

And the Repukes would NOT be able to block him or there would be an uproar!

Spitzer - yes Spitzer for AG - strike some fear into those crooked corpos, at long last.

Hell, strike some fear into BushCo by setting him about the task of investigating the many crimes that have been committed by those creeps during these 4 years.

7. Boies?
David Boies is working for those thieving pirates at SCO.

No way.

5. Spitzer, by miles
Spitzer is the AG in exile. He's done what Ashcroft should have.

Sign him up before the election, and trumpet his record to anyone who will listen. He is *exactly* what people want from AG at this point in time.

6. Richard Blumenthal (Conn. AG) has a longer track record
than Spitzer, though less flashy, since he doesn't have nearly as many big corps or financial heavies around.

Then again, with the stench emanating from Rowland's office these days, his time may finally have come to run for Gov.

11. And it would be hard for a GOP Senate to reject him...
Even if the Senate stays in GOP hands (God forbid...) I don't see them rejecting one of their former members...I like this idea...

Not much of a Joe fan, but his commitment to equal/civil rights is wonderful.

I'd rather see John Edwards as AG, but then again, I'd also like to see JRE at the top of a ticket ( or second on the ticket)

Eliot Spitzer would be a great governor of NY State, and therefore, I don't want to see him as AG for this reason. I want to see Pataki (R, corporate toady, NY) GONE from office before he does any more damage to the good people of NY- (Check out his record on rent destabilization and what it's doing to NYC.)

on edit: Too bad that spell check doesn't catch it when you inadvertently put too many "l's" in Elliot.
