Where do Edwards, Clinton, and Obama stand on health care?
Edited on Fri Jun-08-07 02:08 PM by LBJDemocrat
I'm reading Paul Krugman's article about the debates, and he says the following: "Someone should have called Hillary Clinton on her declaration that on health care, “we’re all talking pretty much about the same things.” While the other two leading candidates have come out with plans for universal (John Edwards) or near-universal (Barack Obama) health coverage, Mrs. Clinton has so far evaded the issue. But again, this went unmentioned in most reports."

I thought Clinton and Obama had the same position on the issue.

Could someone please enlighten me on the subject?

3. Edwards plan
http://johnedwards.com/about/issues/health-care/

Under the Edwards Plan:

Families without insurance will get coverage at an affordable price.
Families with insurance will pay less and get more security and choices.
Businesses and other employers will find it cheaper and easier to insure their workers.
The Edwards Plan achieves universal coverage by:

Requiring businesses and other employers to either cover their employees or help finance their health insurance.
Making insurance affordable by creating new tax credits, expanding Medicaid and SCHIP, reforming insurance laws, and taking innovative steps to contain health care costs.
Creating regional "Health Care Markets" to let every American share the bargaining power to purchase an affordable, high-quality health plan, increase choices among insurance plans, and cut costs for businesses offering insurance.
Once these steps have been taken, requiring all American residents to get insurance.

4. HRC, despite her "experience", has not come out with a health care plan yet
However, she is supposed to unveil a universal health care plan in coming weeks. That would place Edwards and HRC in contrast to Obama on health care.
