4. Boy, that's a big "if".
The majority of the people in this country are too fucked up to vote for him. But I would.

16. Similar to what
I was going to say. I voted no because I know most wouldn't vote for him, which shows to me how fucked up our political system is. But I'd vote for him in a heartbeat.

I just commented on another Kucinich thread that if Clark and Gore don't run, I will be supporting Kucinich.

2. I like Dennis and a lot of the positions he has, but he speaks way too much "Peace"
to be able to win eithr the nomination or the general elections. I believe in egotiations and tradeoffs too, but sometimes that's just not enough, and Dennis is not willing to admit that.

Testosterone-driven politics have done so much for us in the last 6-years

20. Oh, I can't fault testosterone for the last 6 1/2 years!
To be honest, I doubt Shrub has much of that! Stupidity, arrogance, bullheadness, and just plain being a spoiled brat is the causes in my opinion, but NOT testosterone!

Actually I think Dennis ha a lot more of THAT than Shrub ever hoped to have!

World peace is a wonderful dream, but unfortunately, I think it will always be a dream. Maybe there are just too many others in the world a bit too much like Shrub!

7. May as well ask by 2010 will we finally pass universal single-payer health care as Kucinich proposes
The answer is "no, we're just not there yet as a country, but it is still a good aspiration because with universal single-payer health care as a goal we'll get closer and closer and eventually we'll get there."

I'm a Kucinich supporter (and a universal single-payer health care supporter, BTW), but just because America isn't there yet doesn't mean that we shouldn't hold Kucinich or universal single-payer health care as our goal.

I'll support the nominee in the general election, but for now I'll support the candidate with the best ideas instead.

10. In a blind "taste" test
Dennis could probably win. Post the positions and let folks vote, he's got a decent shot. As soon as you attach names and faces to the positions, therein lies the problem...

18. But it's not just about positions
It's about being able to actually accomplish something. DK would be a terrible President. He has no history of working with others to actually accomplish things.

If he were an absolute dictator, perhaps I'd support him. But in our democracy, he'd be even less effective as President than he's been as a legislator.

27. True...
but looking at the Democratic field, you can say much the same about the front-runners, too. Obama, Edward, Clinton -- none have a long track record of accomplishments, especially given their limited time in the Senate. Their campaigns are based on personality and potentional, and one can question the depths of their convictions. Whatever DK lacks in personality and potential, there's little question about his convictions.

There are no great candidates among the Dems or Republicans, and looking at history most presidents have been mediocrities. Whoever is elected, I'm just hoping for some positive change. If greatness accomapnies the change, so much the better for all of us. But there's no way in today's world that we can look at a candidate and know that he/she will be great. The greater likelihood, whether DK or another is that the result will be more mediocrity or worse.

13. No, he is too short
Just ask any of the experts that post regularly on DU. We already know that only a white woman or a black male can win the election this time. Just ask the experts that tell us repeatedly who the front runner is. We have been told repeatedly who the front runner is, long before any one was in the race.

A fellow that is too short, but has really great ideas, just doesn't have a chance. His great ideas would frighten the public. Never mind that the majority of the country favors leaving Iraq now and also favors single payer health insurance. Some how, according to these self proclaimed experts, Dennis is just too liberal or too short or something. He frightens the public, or maybe that was the corporate interest he frightens, or something like that.

Anyhow, this election we all know for sure, thanks to the experts, those red neck cross over voters are going to love a white woman as president, especially Hilary.

15. It's not that he's too short. For me, he seems too philosophical.
Too much of a poet, not enough of a politician. Unfortunately, you have to be more than a visionary to be President. And you have to get at least half the country solidly behind you. I don't seem him being able to do that.

19. Many of my close friends are republicans
They are so fed up and disappointed in Bush. They would vote for almost anyone this time, including a democrat. The whole country is looking for someone with good ideas to get behind. That is why Ron Paul has suddenly taken off on the republican side. He has original ideas - not very good ones, but original just the same. He isn't even a republican. He is a libertarian. Few people outside of Texas knew who he was a few weeks ago. But since the republican debates, he is all the republicans are talking about. The other republican candidates are the same old, same old party line candidates. Even the republican voters aren't buying that this time. The were fooled once recently.

Actually, you need more than half the country to win. That means our candidate had better be attractive to democrats and a few republicans and independents. Most of the democratic candidates again are pretty boring with some really tired old ideas. Most of them are playing it really safe. But some of them are probably good politicians, for what thats worth.

Unfortunately, what our presidential campaigns boil down to is who has the most corporate money. It is common knowledge, from the experts again, that who ever has the most corporate money will win. We are told repeatedly by the media who the front runner is and that no one else has a chance. I guess if it is repeated often enough it becomes fact.

Just because CNN already showed us who they want to win the Democratic nomination in the way they placed the candidates on the stage.

22. She should lose the tongue ring
Edited on Sun Jun-10-07 04:59 AM by pnwmom
if she wants to be taken seriously as a potential First Lady.

I think this country could be ready for a woman President, a black President, even a short President with big ears.

But not a First Lady with a tongue ring. People's heads would be exploding.

Go ahead, tongue ring people, flame me.

However, like AES (Adlai Stevenson in the 50's also google Elenore) the DLCers whoare in charge would not support him.And the Repukes or Corporate Dems will win.

Edited on Sun Jun-10-07 05:33 AM by MonkeyFunk
That wouldn't support Kucinich - it would be the vast majority of the party. Last time out he barely broke 3% in any primary. That doesn't mean the other 97% are DLC "whores"

His platform is so completely supportive of the masses; I think that would be abundantly clear in comparison to any Republican.

He gets the least amount of respect from his own party. If Democratic voters voted the issues, he'd win there, too.

If the smarter, deeper, broader, most truthful, most consistent, least corrupt candidate cannot win, it is a damning indictment of the ignorance of the majority of U.S. citizens.
