Questions for Kerry supporters

To what do you attribute the Kerry campaign's turnaround? Also, share if you will, your reasons for your initial support

Once the voters starting looking at the candidates, the cream rose to the top.


I initially became a fan of Kerry's from watching CSPAN in the early 90's. I thought he would be a good President and 10 years of scrutiny only makes me feel so more strongly.

My candidate endorses Kerry for the nomination. I'm deciding when and who to back. I've given a contribution to the campaign. And this is all I get to the questions? Oh well.

6. I took a long look

After looking at all the canidates back during the summer i talked to a friend who was worker for Kerry. Then I researched Kerry and found out that he was a great leader, War hero and has the best record for voting aganst Bush

8. Once the mainstream media

started beating the "Dean isn't electable" drum, people stopped paying attention to the issues and to who would actually make a good president, and fell for the "Kerry is electable" nonsense.

I'll continue to say that in a fair, free, and honest election, any major Democrat would win. Who here expects a fair, free, and honest election? What we need is a candidate who will (to quote Dean) represent the Democratic wing of the Democratic party, who has a solid record of accomplishment, who knows how to listen to people.

It's not because Kerry is such a fabulous orator, or has wonderful ideas. His best stuff he's taken directly from Dean -- he had the phenomenal audacity when here in Kansas City several weeks ago to have claimed to have started the greatest grass roots movement ever seen.

I am so angry at the obtuseness of people who are worshipping at Kerry's feet that I can hardly contain myself.

9. Let me get this straight

are you actually claiming that Dean has better grass-roots support than Kerry? Better at what? Posting on weblogs?

Dean's grass-roots support hasn't been able to deliver any elections, so obviously it is not better at it's intended purpose than Kerry's.

If I have a beat-up '68 VW that runs, and my neighbor has an '04 Porsche that doesn't run, who has a 'better car'?

11. If grassroots is numbers of people who supported him,

gave him money, entered politics in a meaningful way for the very first time, then Dean had -- still has -- tremendous grass roots support.

I'm 55 years old and this is the first time I've ever given money to a candidate or gone to another state to campaign for him. And it's Dean that got me to do this, not Kerry.

I so dislike Kerry that I'm not about to give him money, and I certainly won't campaign for him, and I may not even bother to vote (breaking a 30 year habit) because I live in Kansas which will without a doubt go Republican and with the indirect election of the president (the Electoral College) my vote won't count anyway.

Kerry somehow grabbed the "electability" ring, but he doesn't inspire the little guy the way Dean did.

Us Dean supporters put up with a lot of crap a few months ago when the ABD sentiment was out in full force. Well, ABD turned out to be Kerry and pretend as you all might, he's just not half the man, and he won't be half the president Dean would have been.

10. A few simple reasons

I wish I could say "8 Simple Rules" as a tribute to the late great John Ritter.

I've known of and admired JK for 30+ years. After seeing him on tricky dick's enemies list and being able to take the rethuglican venom machine on for all of that time and his ability to knock out the rethuglicans before they even knew that the punch was on it's way, I've sen him as a man and a candidate that others underestimate at their own peril. I can't wait to see him debate bush, though bush will almost certainly try to duck this.

In addition to "electability", I believe he will be a great president. I've been aware, as I said previously, of JK for 30+ years. I would support ANY Democratic nominee over resident bush, but I've known of them for a lot less time, and it just doesn't measure up in my book.
