The Kerry Blitz- What the hell happened?

I gather that most of you were surprised when Kerry actually jump-stared his campaign and won nearly every primary so far to date. I was. To quote Bob Livingston and Newt Gingrich in an SNL sketch from 1998, "What the hell happened?" Dean had developed an impressive army consisting of Internet supporters and labor unions. Carol Moseley-Brawn agreed to the first (and now only) notch on Governor Dean's belt. And then the Iowa caucii took place and BOOM! Kerry was in 1st, followed by Edwards. No one really liked him that much (except for the people who works for him, and a few pundits) but there he was, on top? Had media pressure on Dean and his "anger" come to reign on us? Dean got a bunch of almost favorable press coverage early on - and was the target of so much crap for months - Kerry was assumed out. Then Dean is swiftly take down and Kerry offered as a "serious" and "electable" frontrunner.

And the same corporate media CEOs that ordered this have been paying Kerry all along?

All the while Dean was getting press Kucinich was ignored. Dennis got massive, loud, riotous applause at the debates when all the candidates were together. Now the Hollywood stars are playing him as a joke.

Bush and Kerry, the establishment Yale fratboys, are throwing mud at each other while they agree on NAFTA, occupying Iraq, oh, and "taxes" and Bush gets the "tax cut" side while Kerry gets the "responsible fiscal policy" side. Great!

Imagine how the Dean fans feel right now. Imagine if all Democrats feel like that come October.

4. What happened? In a word: ignorance

Name recognition, and vapid public perception combined, that's what happened.

Kucinich is a "leftist extremist" and Dean is "too angry" and Kerry is a "leader"

These three statements are highly nonsensical, as is the "offense" caused by Janet Jackson's flippant boob.

However... You can't go broke underestimating the poor taste and superficial judgement of the average American.

John Kerry benefits from that cold, naked lesson in marketing: a better mousetrap doesn't exist, it's perception that beats a path to your door.

5. Normal every day Americans became involved

rather a simplistic analysis, but yep, most folks don't pay attention until January.

6. A massive subliminal media campaign, the likes we've never seen.

Disquised in the form of Democratic voters who obviously are voting against their best interests by selecting a candidate that reflects the attributes they want in a President.

Oh well, all of us dupes will be just have to live with the fact that we are backing the next President of the United States...

8. well lets see how everyone feels when Kerry backs down

from the Republican congress and basically lets them run amuck because he is scared to veto anything they pass. But hey he will look real presidential when he does it, so thats okay. "sarcasm"

7. What happened? The "electability" reverse psychology strategy

Cool, wasn't it? Someone, somewhere, started the "electability" thing. Suddenly, like the buzzword "duh," it was on everyone's lips. I am shocked, but not in awe.

It's okay, though. All it takes to burst an overinflated balloon is one little prick.
