1. The Signs of TRUE Cowardice
Edited on Mon Jun-11-07 09:45 PM by Demeter
My, look at all the candidates for higher office who couldn't be bothered to register an opinion up or down......

And yet 7, yes, 7 GOP votes for cloture!

11. Biden, Dodd, and Obama were all cosponsors of the bill.
How the fuck does it make them cowards to not be at the vote?

Did they not register their opinion by being cosponsors of the fucking bill?

14. With a vote that close how would they know if three Repugs might not cross over?
After all Specter is quoted as saying he would vote for Censure and then he backed off. If they co-sponsor a bill then it's up to them to be there...particularly with a vote this close and a bill to censure a criminal who is ruining our Justice Department.

15. That's beside the point.
The insinuation was that the Senators in question were afraid to object to AG, which is rendered absurd by the fact they were all cosponsors of the bill.

Whether the measure passed or not is irrelevant. A vote of censure would have zero impact on the behavior of either AG or Bush. Neither of them are very concerned about what anyone thinks.

About all the resolution achieves is putting the folks who voted against cloture on the record as supporting AG at even this late a point - at best a small piece of ammo for some Senate races a year from now.

17. When the Chips Are Down, The Only Thing That Counts Is the Votes
and they couldn't be bothered? They should put their money where their mouths are: as it says in the Declaration:

“And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection
of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and
our sacred honor.”

Of the fifty-six men that signed the Declaration of Independence, five were
captured and mistreated by the British, twelve had their homes destroyed, two lost
sons fighting in the American Army, one had two sons captured, and nine of the
fifty-six died during the war from hardships or violence.

This isn't ping-pong. Those are our lives Congress and the Bush Crime Family are playing chicken with.

3. Instead of campaigning, maybe some of these senators need to take their current job SERIOUSLY.......
and be present for voting.

4. When You Get Right Down To It - This Was Close To The 60 Needed.....
I'm assuming if Biden, Dodd, Johnson & Obama voted it would have been YEA - that would have been 57 Yea votes. Only need to convince 3 more Repugs. I believe that the investigations aren't over and am assuming that Gonzo will still stonewall and other DOJ representatives will reveal more problems for Gonzo. Maybe the next time they can get 3 or more Repugs to flip to a Yea.

6. You do know that if it came down to one vote Specter would
have switched don't you? The only reason he announced earlier today how he was going to vote was that he did a head count and found out it was not going to pass. Therefore, it was safe for him to appear to be for "the rule of law".

He is a total slime ball - says one thing on the talk shows on the weekends and obstructs justice during the week.

10. Technically you could have counted McCain and Coburn
since they spoke out pretty forcefully against Gonzo. That's 59.

So you would have still needed Lieberman.

13. And the reason they didn't vote is because the leadership couldn't get those 3 votes
If their votes had made a difference they would've been there.
