Edwards announces Leo Hindery as Senior Economic Advisor

Chapel Hill, North Carolina--The John Edwards for President Campaign today announced that Leo Hindery, Jr. will serve as Senior Economic Advisor.
“I am delighted to have my friend Leo Hindery join my economic policy team,” said John Edwards. “Leo is a respected leader in the business community and is well known throughout the country as a strong voice for people who often aren’t heard and for responsible economic and trade policies. I know that his experience and insights will be a tremendous value to me as I strive to build a country that offers opportunity to every American.”
“Creating and retaining a vibrant middle class with good jobs and benefits will be a critical responsibility of the next president,” Mr. Hindery said. “John Edwards is the only candidate with the vision and conviction to recognize this challenge and confront it successfully.”

Mr. Hindery has in the past been recognized as International Cable Executive of the Year, Cable Television Operator of the Year, one of Business Week’s “Top 25 Executives of the Year”, and one of the cable industry’s “25 Most Influential Executives Over the Past 25 Years.” He co-founded, along with Russian Federation Council Chairman Sergey Mironov, Transatlantic Partners Against AIDS (TPAA), and received from the Asia Society its Founders Award for his efforts in the international fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Recently, he received the “Keeper of the Dream” Award from the National Action Network for his efforts on behalf of equality and worker rights.
