Trent Lott: “Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.”
He actually said that..

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/15/washington/15immig.html?ei=5099&en=0fadcc32e711981d&ex=1182484800&adxnnl=1&partner=TOPIXNEWS&adxnnlx=1181927333-P5hPmYu7q38uxSRhO18Guw

Comments by Republican senators on Thursday suggested that they were feeling the heat from conservative critics of the bill, who object to provisions offering legal status. The Republican whip, Trent Lott of Mississippi, who supports the bill, said:

“Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.”

At some point, Mr. Lott said, Senate Republican leaders may try to rein in “younger guys who are huffing and puffing against the bill.”

condt.................

I guess he has a bit of a problem with the idea that an informed electorate can enforce it's will via the individuals (Congress) that are their elected representatives.

I can only imagine what he thinks about the Internets.

12. reagan killing the fairness doctrine
gave birth to the right wing trash on the radio today and now my senator observes a problem. Break my fucking heart.

Two things conservatives fear:

- The fairness doctrine
- Being required to swear to tell the truth

LEGACY OF A CONSERVATIVE ADMINISTRATION. bush is making nixon look better and better every day.

4. Memo to Mr. Lott: You played with fire and now you have been burned.
Like the sorcerers' apprentice, they are now being fed upon by their own. Serves them right.

7. It's great that he's made Rush mad, but

if he thinks it's talk radio or the internet that has caused Americans to oppose this bill, he needs to take off his toupee, his brain's overheating.

They thought the right wingers were hopping mad before? He just declared war of the base. He may be back out of his minority whip job shortly.

15. Bet had no problem with talk-radio defending his racist remarks a few years ago
When Trent "KKK" Lott made his racist comments celebrating Strom "Segregation" Thurman's 100th birthday, the right-wing radio hosts were there to defend his sorry ass. They can all rot in hell. They deserve each other.

16. More specifically, Mr. Lott, you just figured out that YOU'RE not running talk radio.
It must suck to learn that Rush has more power than you and your friends.

19. I need to ask a stupid question
If the Fairness Doctrine is returned, does that mean we will have to have neo-con and their shows on Air America? If so, what time slots and how long?
