Hillary announces Texas endorsements...Henry Cuellar, Ruben Hinajosa join Sheila Jackson-Lee...
In endorsing Hillary...

The Clinton Campaign announced the endorsements of Congressmen Henry Cuellar and Ruben Hinojosa and more than 50 Texas officials and community leaders.

"Senator Clinton is the only candidate with the experience and toughness to hit the ground running on her first day in the White House," Rep. Cuellar said.

"Hillary Clinton is a tested and visionary leader who won't forget about the people of South Texas when she reaches the White House," Rep. Hinojosa said. "Her commitment to expanding educational and economic opportunities for all Americans is unmatched."

"I enthusiastically endorse Hillary Clinton for President of the United States of America," said Carol Alvarado, Houston City Councilwoman and President of the Texas Municipal League. "Hillary has an outstanding record of supporting and including Latinas in the political process. As a Latina leader, I am proud to lend my support to a great American who will be a forceful advocate for my community."

"I am honored to have the support of so many local leaders from across Texas," Clinton said. "With their help, we'll take our message of change across the Lone Star State."

Today's endorsers join Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee in supporting Hillary, and illustrate her growing support in the Lone Star State. Yesterday, a poll by the nonpartisan Texas Lyceum found that Clinton is tied with the top GOP contenders in head-to-head matchups and could put Texas in play in a general election. 3. They ARE the Democratic Machine
The one DUers profess to hate. You've got that exactly right. No reason to throw pies at the truth.

5. You know, endorsements are nice and all, and everybody gets them
But such dick measuring contests don't mean a damn thing. The only endorsement contest that matters is who wins in November '08, who gets the most endorsements from the ordinary voting public. And frankly, I don't think that Hillary is going to win that one.

And God help us all if she does.:scared:

6. Reality is...there are far too many of those shaky ice cubes out there
(these guys --> :scared: ) that would prevent her from winning in November, even if "the machine" propels her to nomination victory.

10. They all have their own machines
When they can all reach into their own local base of people, who start talking to their friends and neighbors, and writing the LTTE's etc. - and then turn the herd into a stampede. That's what all these endorsements do.

12. They do.
Local pols have influence. Like you, I'm not in Hillary's wagon, but I continue to watch how well she campaigns. And like you said above, "they are the machine."

13. In some cases, sure.
But a lot of these endorsements are simply for the star power that the candidates hope that they bring. It is the oldest trick in the advertising book, get some big name to sign on and hope that the particular demographic that follows along like good little sheep. Frankly, I find the process a bit insulting, implying that I'm not bright enough to think for myself and will instead do what X person says I should.

14. The elected officials
Those are the ones I mean. Most of them have a base of supporters they can depend on.

The celebrity endorsements, yeah, those are star power. Maya Angelou, that has to make a lot of people step back. I'm very surprised and disappointed.

I still use pen & paper though for Obamas list.

17. Cool, maybe you can write the number of primary donors for Obama v. Clinton when released
And maybe you can count on the number of donors that give Obama less than $50 versus Clinton.

I'm verry happy with both for Senator Clinton.

BTW she just held an event where 8,000 showed up, tickets were 20 bucks a piece.

22. Right. Hillary is collecting payback pieces from the establishment machine, Obama is collecting
financial support from ordinary people.
