My vote goes definitely to the nominee whoever the candidate may be.

We need to strength the Democratic Party and make sure it's people first on issues to improve their prosperity and have peace!

not sure who I will pull the lever for in the primary...

my MAIN focus is on kicking bush* out - this means supporting the candidate that I think is best able to send bush* back to crawford with a pink-slip in his pocket

on the issues, and according to individual platforms - I am most closely aligned with Kuchinich -- but I don't see him being a credible candidate at the point in time. the impression that I get is that Kuchinich and Sharpton are 'issue' candidates, they are running to gather enough delegates to be able to exert some influence on the official nomination convention in July.

Edwards - I like what he says, but he's just a newbie senator, and has held no other public office. Some would say this is good, that it means he hasn't been indoctrinated or programed for politics as usual. But it also means he doesn't have that much experience. Overall, his running gets him name recognition for a future run.

Dean - peaked too soon and then imploded. blame who you want - the media, gopers or other dem candidates bashing him - doesn't matter at this point. the best he can hope for is to get enough delegates to exert some influence at the nomination convention

Kerry - I'm a former MA resident and have never had any qualms about voting for Kerry. The recent goper attacks on his war-protesting days, his voting record in congress, and the "intern" incident leads me to believe that GOP see Kerry as someone that could trounce bush* and this has them scrambling for dirt -- their mudslinging is a sign of desperation.

Kerry started off his campaign with a bush*-lite tone, it wasn't until Dean really gained momentum that Kerry and others started showing a bit more anger in their message.

the nomination process is one of a trial-by-fire, or to use a TV reference it's SURVIVOR. If they can't go the distance during a primary race, then how well will they be able to stand up to the bush*-machine during the official campaign season?

the question for me: of those left standing, who will be able to mount a campaign that will send bush* packing? Once being nominated, will this candidate maintain/step-up the rhetoric, or will they turn into gelded-jellyfish (no balls-no backbone) in order to woo 'moderates'?

I guess I will know when I step into the voting booth, the curtain closes and I pull the lever

It doesn't matter if he is a "credible" candidate. What matters is that his views most closely align to yours. Plenty of other people will vote for the "credible" candidates, and you know you will support the nominee, no matter who. At least put some pressure on the eventual nominee with a clear message from the progressive wing of the party.

I'm a little confused by your reasoning, so I'm going to offer mine in response.

If even half of what I hear about the number of people wanting Bush out is accurate, we have very little to worry about when the GE rolls around. At least for now because I'm not concerning myself with the Rovian smear game yet, or rather only in a very limited sense.

The thing that bothers me is that people have this attitude that we can replace Bush with...well a Wandering Jew (in case anyone doesn't know, it's a bush) and everything will be ok. It can't just be about getting rid of Bush because someone and some platform has to replace him. The question right now HAS to be which of those candidates and platforms do you want to be next.

Now, even if your major concern is replacing Bush, shouldn't YOUR vote go to just what you claim Kucinich is trying to do for YOUR own issues? By your own logic the ability of Kucinich and Sharpton to influence the platform rests on people just like you voting for them so they gain the delegates to achieve that goal. There are plenty of other people who will vote for a candidate based on smething other than our issues, so why wouldn't you cast your vote for your issues?

but when my primary comes around (in friggin' JUNE) it will most likely already be decided, so I will vote for Kucinich assuming he's still in the running.

I would have voted Clark but since he has withdrawn, I don't think writing him in really serves any purpose - unless someone can make a case for it. Anyone?
