Name Your Favorite Republican Revisionist History Story.
As we all know, one of the republicant's main tactics is to revise history and facts on situations that occur under their watch. The MSM is complicit in this.
BushCo loves to take any subject that effects them as turn it around. Confuse, distract, blame, conquer. Every time I watch the news or read the paper, it seems I have a WTF moment when it comes to this White House and pukes in general.

My favorite happens to be one of the very first things "they" did upon entering office. I am not sure if it is true or not. Day one in the White House, there was the story of all the computer keyboards having the "w" key removed. I say bullshit. This is minor, not the heavy hitting revisionism I am looking for.

Have at it Kids.

1. RayGun: Man Of Steel ..
I heard Romney tell this one during one of their debates and the rest of the candidates grunted in agreement.
It was a story about the Iran hosatge crisis in 1980.
Romney said that the Iranians looked into RayGuns eyes and were so swayed that within days they released the hostages. Just like that, so awesome was the power of RayGun.
He forgot to mention the part about the bribe.

More generally, "Clinton administration ignored terrorism."

9. I hate that whole series of events that "Clinton ignored"
capturing those responsible and successfully prosecuting seem to be things the reich-wingers cannot relate to. I guess this is how they justify their failure at doing so themselves.

14. Clinton DID ignore the crimes of the biggest terrorists - he let Poppy Bush off the hook
for all the outstanding matters from IranContra, BCCI, Iraqgate and CIA drugrunning all of which uncovered the funding and arming of the global terror networks.

http://www.consortiumnews.com/2006/111106.html

Had Clinton cared more for truth than political gamesmanship, there would have been NO Bush2, NO 9-11, NO Iraq war.

18. Like I said - the biggest terrorist abettors were Bush and his cronies and they were
doing it throughout the 90s, too.

They were able to get away with more working privately and without the scrutiny they had been getting from congressional Democrats.

Do you really think Clinton wasn't AWARE of what Poppy and his thugs were doing to grow their fascist agenda throughout the 90s?

22. ok ok - I was only stating that the right-wing claim that
Clinton did nothing following the Cole incident is a clear lie - there were prosecutions and convictions - not unlike the Trade Center bombing of the early '90s.

28. I agree that USS Cole was an enormous lie - especially since Halliburton was in charge of refueling
the ship, and the press completely ignored the inconvenient fact that PRIVATIZING logistics for the military that begun under Sec of Defense Cheney and continued throughout the Clinton administration left our military MORE vulnerable.

6. Joe Wilson Outed his own wife
A lifelong ambassador, entrusted to face down Saddam Hussein when the tyrant threatened to hold people hostage in the run up to Gulf War I, went around telling anyone who'd listened about his "CIA Wife."

He even told it to a Fox News consultant, Paul Vallely, in the green room while waiting to go on a talk show!

Wingnuts believe this tale. Every word. And they repeat it every time the Plame affair is mentioned.

29. I don't know how much more officially wrong something needs to be
before wingnuts will finally acknowledge as much.

At least with that stupid, completely irrational and illogical story about "Joe Wilson outing his own wife," there's a glimmer, a teensy possibility it could be true, simply because we can't claim to know of everything one guy might have said to everyone/anyone he ever met. It wouldn't be in character, it wouldn't make any sense for him to have done as the wingnuts claim he had done, but at least it's possible.

Valerie Plame not being covert is simply not possible. There's legal documentation asserting this; it's established fact.

ARGHH!

8. "The United States was founded as a Christian nation"
With this bit of revisionism, every last bit of liberal, progressive and/or civil rights minded legislation can be deemed as against what the Founders intended and thus unAmerican if not traitorous.

11. If there is one thing that's a bipartisan issue
it's that both parties do that.

It's primarily why the history taught in schools is completely fucking useless to citizens. It's the statemens view that says "so and so was feeling good one day and decided to pass this bill giving you X rights".

Or

"In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue".

It's the history of real people and their struggles that matter. Some of it is ugly and some of it is beautiful. But it's all important and that'w where we learn from our mistakes.

13. Reaganomics...
My personal favorite is when Republican insist that the booming economy of the Clinton years was the result of Reagan's economic policies of ten year earlier (talk about a time-delayed fuse!). Similarly, some Republicans insist that the current sluggish economy is the "hangover" effect from Clinton's economics. See? It's NEVER their fault!

21. "Bush was elected twice"
when he didn't even get elected once.

more revisionist lies from the rightwing:
Iraq was responsible for 9/11
Iraq had WMDs
Iraqis will greet us with flowers
When Iraq stands up, we'll stand down
Bush saying: "... I don't think our troops ought to be used for what's called nation building."
Bush served in the National Guard
New Orleans was the fault of all the poor people who did not evacuate
The US doesn't condone torture
The war is about spreading democracy
...

I could go on and on.

And by the way, the missing "W" character story turned out to be false, if I remember correctly. If not, keyboards are pretty cheap.

30. The US single-handedly defeated the Nazis and Japanese Empire then FDR gave the USSR half of Europe.
This completely negates the actions of the Chinese in the Japanese war, the Red Army and Commonwealth contributions in Europe, especially the Red Army's.
This point is that the USSR was unjustified in establishing a cordon sanitaire against their smaller enemies who had allied with the Nazis: Hungary, Bulgaria, and Austria, and that it was a joint Allied decision to determine the spheres of influence at Yalta.

31. Bush was heroic on 9/11. That's my favorite because
it's such easily disproved crap, and yet the media simply made it up and people fell for it. I had a repuke once say to me, "OK, so you don't like Bush, but you have to admit you were glad he was President on 9/11." I thought Where the Fuck did that come from? All media bullshit and repuke lies.
