Let me see if I've got this straight re: Congress' approval rating

When the GOP held the Congress and didn't get anything done, it was the minority Democrats who were at fault.

So now that the Dems hold the Congress and aren't getting much done, it's the majority Democrats who are at fault.


Do I have that right?

7. Before they rolled over on Iraq war funding, the approval was 40%

which was near a record high for Congress. After they rolled over like good little puppy dogs, the approval rating was 23%. That's still quite a bit higher than the last Congress enjoyed, but you'd think a 17 point drop would have awakened a few of them.

If they roll over again in September, they can kiss 2008 goodbye. Only the fundies will get out and bother to vote.

She was over 50%, and I believe she (and Congress) they can get back there if they're seen as doing the job they were sent to do. I don't think we're past the point of no return at all, but something's gotta start happening soon.

Impeaching Abu Gonzo and officially de-authorizing the war would be a good start (but only a start.)

You hit the nail on the head. It is their failure to "reign in" (to impeach) that is driving their numbers through the floor.

They have been pretending -- to us, and perhaps to themselves -- that something short of impeachment can "reign in" outlaws. Reality is a harsh mistress. Until they get serious about impeachment, whatever they do, the bushcheney steamroller will just keep rolling over them. They will keep proving their impotence to the American people. They will keep losing support.

They promised a REAL fight. They can deliver a REAL fight. They can fight to impeach and remove.

Win or lose, it's the ONLY fight that means anything. It is a fight that will give focus to the nation's outrage.

They can get real, fulfill their duty to "support and defend", and gain support. Or they can keep up the pretense, be derelict, and lose support.

It's really that simple.

The republicans want to make the democrats look bad. They are trying their best to screw them over so the public will think it is their fault. Why do you think bush is peeing and moaning about the democrats spending bills. He is trying to put the blame for the trillions we are in debt on the democrats. He wants the country to think they are responsible for it.

And one thing the stupid damn democrats are not in front of the cameras as much as they are allowed by the republican media slamming and bumming the republicans for their reprehensible actions. When ever the republican media lets them in front of the camera they should shout it as loud as they can.

When they were i the Minority they were our only defense. When they are in the Majority they are our only Defense. Our country, it's heart and soul (the US Constitution) is and has been under assault by Republicans. America looks to Democrats to defend us whether they are in the Minority or the Majority. America has not seen any real Defense. The Constitution is being ripped asunder and nothing is being done. No accountability is being asked for. Yes we cry out for the Democrats to save us for if they don't who will? Are they up to the job? America is beginning to have it's doubts.
