Voter Exchange Idea, Edwards/Dean

Remember the Nader voter exchange program, so close states can compete? We need an exchange program between the South, and the North.

Edwards voters in the north should vote for Dean, and Dean voters in the South should vote for Edwards. For those of us who believe Kerry is the most easily beaten of the bunch, and want an alternative to Kerry, we should think of working it this way. That way, there will be plenty more time to work this out, so it can be fully vetted. Some of you who are so pro-Kerry, can take a clear look over time at how this affair with a youngblood plays with the media, and can more fully decide if we want another eight years of sex scandals, and further cheapening of the moral-angle.

No matter how pro-Kerry you are, this is very important to the Democratic Party, we have enough going against us, without another Clinton era Democrat serving, should he managed to overcome the sleazy story.

It is not playing in the media as anything but an Internet rumor. I'm not ready to catastrophize this issue just yet.

3. What makes you think Edwards wants to help Dean

As far as I can see, he is firmly in the insider camp. Sure, he'd prefer to be at the top of the ticket instead of Kerry, but I don't see any reason why he'd want to help Dean.

They would be helping one-another, it wouldn't be one-way. Dean seems to be taking second in most northern states, while Edwards is the second choice in most southern states, except his neighbor state, South Carolina.

Dean/Edwards ticket swap won't matter much.

It will only decide, who gets second place.

One of the two have to go unfortunately. It's already a longshot to take out Kerry. If Edwards finishes third in Wisconsin I'd call for him to drop out, same with Dean.

8. 2162 Delegates Needed

This race has a long way to go, don't believe any different. This story will keep leaking out, and as with Clinton, where there's smoke, there's sure to be fire. It might not matter with most Democrats, but as far as electability, seemingly the foundation of Democratic voting, it really plays heavily.

This strategy, helping both candidates, not just Dean, would serve to continue getting delegates for both, keeping them in the race longer, as the GOP gives increasing examples of all the stuff Kerry is going to have to face, and will allow time for people to reevaluate the foolhardy reasons they are voting for Kerry, and realize that not only is it impossible to predict electability at this point, but that perhaps Kerry's electability isn't as high as they once thought.

One further comment, for Edwards voters who think he's going to be the choice for VP. Kerry (in a foolish announcement I though) said yesterday that though many wanted Edwards to be the choice, he though Edwards experience was a bit light, to be a heartbeat away from the president, which indicates to me that he's not on the short-list for Vice President. I thought that was a stupid campaign move, since I think Edwards whole vision-optimism-positive plan is now pointless. He's not likely to be the VP.

Most Edwards supporters aren't going to be voting for Dean. I myself like Edwards, but I would only vote for Dean in the general election.

Plus in the primaries, each candidate is interested in getting as many delegates as possible, meaning as many votes as possible, regardless of the state.

14. Bad idea because: (1) every vote counts -- you get delegates, and (2)

because this race is now about momentum. Kerry will win unless Edwards (and Edwards is the only one now) gets momentum by narrowing the gap in every state leading up to March 2 and then wins March 2.
