Why is Chris Matthews moderating anything to do with Democrats?
was Rush Limbaugh busy? Bill O'Reilly watching the Mets? Sean Hannity busy lying on the radio? Pat Robertson busy enslaving Africans to get more diamonds? Chris Matthews? wow.

2. I like that on old bill watching the Mets. Bet he is keeping his distance
so they won't throw him out again.

I don't know why he is the moderator but did you see the audience clean his clock for him, great wasn't it.

4. He's actually doing a good job.
Allowing Edwards to speak and even allowed to do his own follow-up questions.

5. Chris doesn't like it when the audience heckles him
Now that he's finished with Hillary, he's probably going to be pretty tame. We'll see, I guess... The worst part of it is that he'll be going back to Hardball and practicing the Faux techniques (poking sticks and making negative comments/innuendo against candidates that are not there to defend themselves).

Wouldn't it be nice if (for once) he got all gushy after spending time with the Democrats just like he does after watching Bush/Cheney/The Thompson Duet/Guilliani/McCain/Brownback/Tancredo/Gilmore/etc,etc,etc ?

6. LOL!!! "Why is the Democratic Party having such a hard time connecting
with the American people?" This audience isn't going to let him get away with the RW talking points!

13. I would take competence
and honesty neither of which Matthews seems to posses. I don't think it is too much to ask that we at least avoid a certifiable nut.

15. Competence like beauty is in the eye of the beholder
I wouldn't know if Matthews is competent or not since I haven't watched TV hardly at all in the past decade but I do know that he must have some level of competence as far as some folk are concerned, particularly when it comes to entertainment value.
You don't get to where he has gotten without some level of competence.

17. I try to avoid propaganda
so I'll demur on actually polluting my mind by viewing him. What little I've seen of him is more than enough.
I'm sure Matthews is basically an idiot and a tool, I've read enough about him to know that.

It's just that in my mind, none of that has much to do with the original question.
If anything, there's a good argument to be made for an idiot and a tool being the moderator of debates so that the Democratic candidates can hone their skills against that sort of thing.

18. You nailed it....he's doing it for the "Entertainment" value....
That's what MSNBC is all about today. Entertainment...and CNN is all about promoting war...when it isn't entertaining...but then War is entertaining for both CNN/MSNBC. It's hard to know the difference in anything these days.

19. I totally agree with you... it's bizarre.
Hard to believe he was s speach writer in the Carter administration. Makes me wonder what REALLY happened between him and the Clintons to turn him so anti-Dem.

Tim Russert is another guy who used to lean pro-Dem, and is now solid RW neocon. I don't understand either of them.

23. You got to pick your battles
The Democratic Party made it's statment by refusing to let FOX touch our debates, and got some predictable heat for that decision. It was the right decision to make, even with the return flak. That is where we drew the line. Drawing that line at all seems radical to many Americans, were we to move that line even further now to include only a designated list of major media figures who Democrats are willing to be questioned by, it would cost us more than it would gain.

The Democratic Party made its big statement for this electon cycle by banning FOX from our debates. Now we need to keep the heat on all media, pointing out, in our role as activists, where and how their partiality lies.
