Re: Kerry/Alex Polier mudslinging campaign in UK press
Here's the link to what one Murdoch-owned newspaper in the UK is printing today:
http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2004071781,00.html

My former managing editor, who now works for Reuters, says that this has been partly fuelled by expatriate members of Democrats Abroad in UK and Europe, same generation as John Kerry (ie. born in the inter-war years 1939-1945). Not just Bush supporters spoiling for a dirty fight.

One small group of individuals who claim to have collectively contributed over $50 million of non-corporate funds to Clinton's '92 and '96 campaigns say that the current round of mudslinging as started in the Drudge Report was generated by the same financial backers who deplored the way that Maria Shriver 'greased' Arnold Schwartzenegger's recall campaign in California last year. Same old Democrat schizm that's been around for donkey's years.

Professional colleagues of mine who work for non-Murdoch press Sunday newspapers and press agencies in the UK, Paris and Tel Aviv say that there have been some spectacular attempts to grab an 'exclusive' for this weekend's coverage from retired former Democrats who worked in US legations, the US Justice Department and also in Congress during the 1970s and 80s. Don't know what success they are having but the angle that's being put about is that Kerry's wife Teresa Heinz is too immersed in Republican agendas to give credibility to his presidential campaign. Maybe the roots of this lie in those still sore about the Shriver/Schwartzenegger business that ousted Gray Davis and got Arnie elected.

All the old stuff about Senator Heinz's plane crash demise and his family's wheeling and dealing in the food industry is being trawled. I guess Kerry/Heinz business is as tantalising a target as Shriver/Schwartzenegger.

3. Members of Democrats Abroad resident in the UK/Europe
socially/professionally/politically connected to the press. Big hitters when it comes to raising the odd $1 million at the drop of a hat to bolster any campaigner needing their support.

21. hmm...
Why did I miss these deep-pockets people as a Democrat Abroad in Berlin? What did I do wrong? And how come almost all the DAs I met were pretty much cashless, if highly smart & charming?

4. I remember JFK in the 60's
It is wonderful to have that dream. Edwards is a good guy. How about VP and then in 2012 he becomes the president we will all love. I like him but like Kerry for the times we are in.

5. I just want to know the real important stuff like:
Is Kerry's girl friend a blond, as one story says, or a brunette as a picture shows in another story ?

Was she on her honeymoon 6 months ago, as a friend is quoted, or is she in Africa with her fiance per another story ?

Did Kerry get her spirited off to Africa as one story, or is she on assignment in Kenya as another source says ?

Are the parents quotes correct, and if they are how could anyone so stupid have a daughter smart enough to be a journalist? Eh... scratch that last question.

6. I'd venture to guess this is black ops money being funnelled into
the electoral process via Europe since they can't do it legally in America.

9. You are probably right. They can print anything over there
And you know once it is "out there" the press here has an "obligation" to see that it is plastered over every front page possible.

10. Wouldn't put it past them, it's been a reliable path before.
But the infighting among Dems at primary time is as legendary as the BFEE is evil. I think some very very old scores are about to be aired in public and they concern those oldies who were part of the Democratic setup that contributed to hushing up plenty of stuff like Mary Jo Kopechne (Sen Ted Kennedy in Martha's Vineyard), 'Mad Jack' Bouvier (who was on record as doshing up Catholic clergy like Cardinal Law et al, in Boston, some of whom are now part of the Catholic Church denial of child abuse scandals that go back to the time of the 60s) and Patricia Kennedy Lawford, whose ex Peter Lawford was a sex addict and serial offender, coke head and got busted for dealing among his Hollywood coterie.

as they say. I'm waiting with baited breath to see how many more past Democratic scandals, real and imagined are going to be added to this soup.

Edited to add. And the main ingredient seems to be anti-Kennedy spices.

18. Schwartzenegger slime? - the NYT printed that the gay video was w/o
his permission and that he did no "gay" acts in it.

And the playboy enterprises softcore porn video with Arnold was shrugged off as no worse than a "girls gone wild"

And the gropping - well the liberal media did a good job of ignoring

and the German mistress - the pictures never left Europe

and the "parties" were "I have at times behaved badly on the set" and the press moved on.

Now can we get back to Kerry lusting in his heart but not acting on it - which the worst case on this bit of Scafie/Rove/Fox/Bush slime.
