All those waiting for a Gore Presidency, please check in
I am always grateful for yet another Gore post. :7 Always interested in checking here on DU and learning what the old boy is up to this week and also grateful that so many here on DU share my hope that he does choose to run again for the Presidency in 2008.

That said, have you written him a letter requesting that he run? I know we all have signed petitions (some of us several times... ahem). But a written letter on your personal letterhead or nice note card goes a lot further than an email or impersonal form letter from an organized internet group. One personal letter to a politician translates in politicianeze to 40 letters.

Send him a note. Let him know that he will have your support in his work to rebuild this country AND your continued support of his environmental work.

I think we need to let him know how much we appreciate his work and how much we will help him get the job done.

Peace.

Al can be reached at:
Honorable Al Gore
2100 West End Avenue, Suite 620
Nashville, TN 37203

118. A note from New Mexico
would be appreciated I'm sure. Writing gets us off the sidelines and is a positive action toward the goal of convincing him, if he still needs it, that we will support him in a 2008 run.

120. No problem.
One of the many things I like about DU is the call to action posts. This is a bit of my payback for posts that have goosed me to actually do something positive about issues I am concerned about.

Thanks for writing him.

20. AND write him a note too?
When SharonRB met him at a booksigning in Seattle, she told him that she would be writing him. And his reply was that he hoped that she would. (see post in the Gore Group)

When I read that, I thought perhaps he is weighing a possible candidacy and that written letters could sway him toward it? Perhaps that IS one of the markers he is considering?

This country needs him so much! After reading "The Assault on Reason," it has become painfully clear that he's the only person who truly gets it. He knows what the problems are and he knows what must be done to fix them.

Run Al, run!!! :patriot:

31. I wish I could figure out how to add pictures to my posts
Edited on Fri Jun-22-07 02:44 PM by Marnieworld
I sent someone recently 2 graphics that depict why I love Al Gore so much and why I can't let go of the hope that he will run. One picture is of him sitting in an office surrounded by several computers, papers and tons of books. It just showed such an alive mind and passionate work ethic. The other was a sweaty flushed Gore looking at a group of people almost to say, "What needs to be done next now?" I believe that he was in an airplane hanger in NOLA right after Katrina and loading people and equipment onto a plane set for a Nashville hospital.

He is not just the essence of a leader, I truly believe that he is a good person and complete patriot. I told my friend that I love Gore because I respect his mind and I trust his heart.

Anyone else have these pics? They really say it all.

I'm holding out until there's no hope left.

I wrote him last month and I got a response, obviously a form letter, but nice nonetheless. Unfortunately, his staff didn't remember to change the date on the letter -- it was dated April 20, and I didn't write my letter to him until May 3!

25. Send him a note to that effect?
It would only take a minute and it would have a tremendous effect on the other end. Bulk mail has a way of speaking that other ways of communication just do not. A note means that you actually took time out of your day to think what to say, found a note card, wrote it out, addressed it, put a stamp on it, and THEN actually dropped it in the mail.

Handwritten is good - for those who type - that is still fine. Just make sure you sign your name in ink so that it does have that personal touch.

26. I will not give up until the very last possible day
Does anyone know that day? The deadline for declaring a candidacy?

The race has not started for me at all until that day. The entire bunch of candidates, except for Kucinich, are running like we aren't in a dire crisis. Hillary especially has a 1992 attitude. I want someone who knows the dangers that we face and the crimes committed and all that must be rolled back. I want someone that passionately defends the Constitution, science and the rule of law. I want someone who wants to get America back. The current candidates, except Kucinich, leave me with the impression that they aren't aware of all of the damage that needs to be fixed.

I want reason, I want debate, I want facts, I want vision. I want Gore.

After next week I am unemployed until I can find another job. I have made a vow to write him every day with a different reason to run. A girl can dream and ask very nicely. Who knows?

I wasn't even thinking about asking for a job. Just I'll have more time on my hands to devote to the writing. Then again- what better job could there be than working for him? Nah, I want to just write him to convince him, write him to let him know that we are out here, and we understand and appreciate what he has been saying. No one has articulated our problems and solutions better than Gore. He is the person we need right now and he needs to embrace his destiny.

he must be just horrified at the candidates, don't you think? i wonder if he isn't just waiting out of principle. i think this endless campaign shit is just going toooooo far. i also think that if someone seemed like they were telling the truth, and people were actually paying attention, he wouldn't run. but unless dk or gravel catch fire, i think he won't be able to say no.

and i didn't think it was that warm. it was nice that they brought drinks around. we should have worn funny hats or something so we could find each other.

58. KC DU'ers set up a table for Gore at the Take Back America conference
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=260&topic_id=1101&mesg_id=1101

It's the second year in a row that we had a Gore table at the conference. And, for the second year in a row, the other tables told us that we were the table that got the most traffic (which was great considering we were almost hidden on the back row). We even got a visit from Bill O'Reilly's crew.

So, we're not just sitting on the sidelines. We're out to take back America with the person we think would make the best president and we're working to make it happen.

but I had a similar hat. She was one of my room mates at the conference and she's one of my best friends. We couldn't have made the trip without her.

We all do what we can. I'm fortunate that I'm able to go to the conference. My husband is a volunteer coordinator for the Draft Gore movement and getting a table is something we can do to show our support for Gore and to help connect other supporters with each other.

425. The meetup group here
organized for the book signing downtown Chicago earlier this month. There meeting place is about 30 miles away... in Chicago terms - that's about an hour away. We just may have to get one going closer to the burbs out here!

Thanks for the info and thanks for getting the word out!

I can think of no one who is better qualified or suited for the unbelievable mess we'll have in 2009. IF we even get our country back at that time -- which I think is questionable at best.

61. So when does "his " environmental work become the environmental work of others?
Something to think about while "waiting" as the effects of this climate crisis get ever more pronounced while so many wait... and wait... and as we wait for those who claim to support his work on the environment to make it their work in enough numbers to make such social change in this country that it will be like a tidal wave that innundates Washington DC. I just received a letter from him too, and in it he explained that his campaign is for the planet, and he thanked me for my work on it. I know he is now embracing his destiny, and I am goinf in that direction because it is the right thing to do. Those "waiting" for him or anyone else to save them do nothing to solve this crisis now. I'm done waiting for politicians to do it for me. I am part of the citizenry and WE hold the power, and Mr. Gore is my leader already in that cause. No wonder he frowns when people continue to not get ithat at his book signings. He is drafting US, and I am answering his call regardless of his address.

And ignoring a crisis that is already staking its claim to our future. 81. You know nothing of me or the people supporting him, other
than your own projections. I know you were hurt because he didn't run in 2004 when you wanted him to and I believe you've tied your emotions to that disappointment, but I don't believe 2008 is 2004 anymore than 2012 will be.

Regarding Al Gore's scheduled event yesterday, I haven't looked it up yet, this doesn't mean I'm not supporting the same cause as he. The man is constantly speaking out and raising awareness regarding the global warming climate change crisis. I do what I can with my limited means, however I believe if the primary leadership of the Federal Government doesn't change for the better regarding the climate crisis, the Iraq War, our dysfunctional media, the health care crisis and the general economy it will be for naught.

One person's encouragement is another person's harassment and if Al Gore comes out and says I will not run in 2008 or allow myself to be drafted, that's all it takes for me, at least until 2012.

Right back at you, and actually no, the threads here pretty much tell people reading and lurking what is really more popular to discuss here regarding him. And I wasn't hurt in 2004 because he didn't run... I know now he already knew what this system was about and still does, which I too learned as well. I was hurt in 2004 because we the people who could have made a difference DIDN'T STAND UP to keep these bastards out thus allowing this country to sink ever deeper...And as The Assault On Reason tells us in no uncertain terms, we did it to ourselves and no one person or one election is going to change it. It is fine and good if people only now wish to support him running because he is "popular" and doing so gets you on the front pages of blogs to get attention. However, it isn't as black and white as presented in these threads, and he sees it and so do I and many others. The rules have not changed from 2000 or 2004, which is his point in his books which many seem to be dismissing clearly for their own political ends. And if you think I am the only one to see that you are mistaken. And as to the event, he was in London presenting the Ashden Awards, and yes, I do think those who support his environmental work would attempt to know what he is doing regarding it.

he spoke in Italy and Greece, he also received one of Spain's highest awards for his work on behalf of the environment. I've read "Earth in The Balance", "An Inconvenient Truth" and "The Assault on Reason". I supported Al Gore when he was a Congressman, but I don't yet what Al Gore is going to have for dinner tomorrow or what he had for lunch today or even where he will be speaking. However I already know the man, and I've got the message. I'm curious if you started a thread on his speech in England, if you did, I will be happy to kick and recommend it.

"It is fine and good if people only now wish to support him running because he is "popular" and doing so gets you on the front pages of blogs to get attention."

You might ask your self why is he popular now? Could it be that people have finally gotten the message in spite of the MCM's clutter? I believe the rules are changing maybe not fast enough for my taste or yours, but nonetheless they're changing.

My review of AIT

I also posted here regarding a reissuing of Earth In The Balance last fall which I bought to compliment the original version I have read three times over the years, as well as posting about the publishing of AIT for young readers which I bought for my son. I also have two copies of AIT, one personally signed by him and the one I read before I even met him that I dedicated to my son. Therefore, if there is anything else you want to read that I have written I will be more than happy to look through my archives. I have written on many of his speeches and appearances regarding this as well, so your attempt to somehow make this about me or somehow question my credibility is useless. I am what I say I am.

You accused me of not reading it, and I showed you proof I did. I asked you if you did and you completely ignored it, instead choosing to insult me by calling me intolerant, which is absolutely ridiculous. Disagreement is not intolerance, if it were I could then say the same thing about you. Asking people when "his" environmental work will become ours and supporting his work and making it mine is not intolerant, it just isn't what you wanted to read. Whatever. And yes we do disagree about Al Gore. I think him a great man without putting demands on him, while you and others seem to think his work is not worthy of discussion unless you can put a political spin on it to make it "interesting." So be it.

don't be angry with folks here who want him to run. I want him in office because I think he can influence the environmental policies of this country as US president even more than he can now.

It sounds like a cliché but I was Green before Green was cool. And I've had the honor of voting for him for the senate when I lived in TN long ago. I adore the man and I like breathing and I'm angry too. And I'm trying my best to minimize my carbon footprint, but that's not enough. Only governmental power can curb the greedy industrial polluters in this country. This is about the life of this planet for me, not political.

If he were to say, clearly and honestly, that he wasn't running, didn't want to run, would not dream of running, and please stop, then continuing to write him, or sign petitions, might be called "harassing", but he has not, and it is not. Nor is anyone ignoring a crisis - Al Gore as President could do more than Al Gore as private citizen IMO - passing things into law can be quite effective when dealing with a crisis.

He is doing great things, and could do greater things if he were elected - there is no one with his experience, knowledge and ability in the running, and for you to suggest people are harassing him by wanting him to run is kind of foolish - we're looking for someone to save the country, and lead the country - he would be the best I think.

201. But this crisis isn't about Al Gore, this is about US
Edited on Fri Jun-22-07 09:48 PM by RestoreGore
So tell me just how any laws will be passed in this bought and sold Congress and why he has accomplished more regarding this crisis as a private citizen. I think that argument is just plain empty based on the facts and purely politically selfish...unless of course, you don't follow what he is doing now. And he has also said as much. But just forget it. It is truly too frustrating to try to reason with people on political blogs regarding the moral imperative we all have in DEMANDING drastic changes ourselves on an enmasse sustained scale from business to government across the board and across party lines and in our own lives. People here expect him to do it all for them from the SAME system that ignored this AND HIM for thirty years that doesn't even have the guts to stand up even today to demand a carbon freeze, and it simply is not possible that way unless there is a TREMENDOUS SHIFT in public opinion, hearts and minds, and seeing the moral imperative in our own lives. I see no mass movement on progressive blogs however either to seriously stand beside him and others NOW based on the merits of this crisis...All sincere people get are snarky responses. I can then understand thoroughly now why he fell out of love with politics. The sound bites on blogs are in many cases no better than the sound bites found on television... it's always, oh, please come and save me, not what can I do. And personally, I think to be so arrogant to wait for him to tell you he is not interested in the words you want to hear is foolish. Just pushing him is not doing something about this crisis.

404. It's quite easy to tell you
why he's accomplished more as a private citizen - because he has been a private citizen since 2001. We have no idea what he could do as a "public" citizen, since he has not been one.

Personally I think it's arrogant of you to think that YOU know what's best for the country, and for Al Gore, unless of course, you are him. I see your posts all over the place, all saying the same thing, and it does get slightly monotonous - also somewhat strange for someone whose nick is RestoreGore.

Your arguments make no sense to me - in fact, quite the opposite. He could get far more done as the leader of the "free" world, there's not a doubt in my mind. And yes, it's US, and he's one of US.

Carry on...

Uncle Joe's post from last week... I don't think its kooky at all. It's about the only thing that has made sense to me these past several years.

Gore is our president. The SCOTUS acted illegally.

This time, we inaugurate him no matter what it takes.

323. THANK YOU!
THIS is the speech I have been keeping an eye out for.....I heard it one cold January day while sitting in a Menard's parking lot in northern MN.....I could not leave the vehicle and join my husband who was shopping (job related). This speech is one of the most patriotic speeches I have ever been priveledged to hear....so thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know, as I was eagerly listening each sentence, that Al Gore HAD to run, once again, for the office of the President. It gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes because I knew then, as I know today, this man not only has the skills and experience needed for the office but that he has the passion for it. Yes, I will write "President" Gore a little note and try to convey MY passion for his undertaking this great responsibility.

yes, I know it would require an amendment but since when have the Pukes not gotten what they wanted.

But if this is any comfort to you, the Arnold has too many ladies and sexual harrassment issues in his past to qualify. Hasn't he also flip flopped on gay and abortion rights?

he would be the perfect one to fire up the working class puke sub-base with his action hero status, I really want an experienced

the Bush white house and it cannot work in 08.

202. Hi Mom for Peace!
:hi: I am too!

Thanks for the 50th rec. This is a record for me as I seldom start threads. I started out this morning thinking about what my letter would do when it reached Gore's office. How much mail do they get? Bet they sort it by type? Does he read it all? Probably not. But the numbers are probably communicated to him. How many today asking him to run? How many will it take to convince him he has the support to make a successful run for the Presidency? This is just my way to get some positive action happening here. I know I feel much more connected when I write or call my Congressmen.

Gore is in the right place at the right time. People are listening to him. He could turn this around far easier and quicker than anyone else running currently. I hope he knows that. I think he does.

SAVE THE COUNTRY (lyrics by laura nyro)

Come on, people! Come on, children!
Come on down to the glory river.

Gonna wash you up, and wash you down,
gonna lay the devil down, gonna lay that devil down.

Come on, people! Come on, children!
There's a king at the glory river.

And the precious king, he loved the people to sing;
Babes in the blinkin' sun sang
"We Shall Overcome".

I got fury in my soul, fury's gonna take me to the glory goal.
In my mind I can't study war NO MORE.
Save the people! Save the children! Save the country now!

Come on, people! come on, children!
Come on down to the glory river.

Gonna wash you up and wash you down.
Gonna lay the devil down, gonna lay that devil down.

Come on people! Sons and mothers!
Keep the dream of the two young brothers.
Gonna take that dream and ride that dove.

We could build the dream with love, I know,
We could build the dream with love, I know,
We could build a dream with love, children,
We could build the dream with love, oh people,
We could build the dream with love, I know,
We could build the dream with love.

I got fury in my soul, fury's gonna take me to the glory goal.
In my mind I can't study war NO MORE.
Save the people! Save the children! Save the country now!

Everybody save the country, save the country, save the country NOW!

266. My handwritten letter to Mr. Gore
Dear Mr. Gore:

I voted for you in 2000. I’m afraid I let you down.

As the last seven years have unfolded, I’ve watched in horror and disbelief as the honor, traditions, laws, moral authority, international standing, and Constitution of our great land have been abused, ignored, violated, shredded, decimated and circumvented. I’m afraid I let the Republic down.

I’m asking for a second chance.

I’m asking that you please run for President in 2008.

I apologize for asking you to endure such a burden. I might as well ask you to agree to run a marathon every day for the next year and half while carrying a 5,000 pound weight on your back. Unfortunately, as I see the terrible mess our country is in and as I survey the field of candidates, I see no one who instills in me the utmost confidence that they can right the ship of state and steer us clear of the rocky shore for which we are headed. Only you, sir, have the tools, knowledge, working history, command of issues, and frankly the courage to assume leadership at this crucial time in our history.

During times of crisis, great men step forward and answer the call. You are a great man. This is the time. I ask that you lead us.

I’m asking for a second chance.

I have never been a donor or a volunteer. I have always been passive in the process. Not this time. I will donate to your cause. I will volunteer for your campaign. I will knock on doors. I will make phone calls. I will stuff envelopes. I will do whatever is within my power to assist you in leading our country out of darkness and into the light.

I’m asking for a second chance.
Please run for President.
Our country needs you.

I think the entire dynamic of the campaign, the center of gravity, EVERYTHING - will shift dramatically if he steps in. WHEN he steps in (gotta think positive!).

There will be more people who are thrilled about him than are on the fence about him. Meanwhile, the republi-CONS will still be stuck with someone they're lukewarm about. Even once fred thompson gets in, because there'll be shit coming out about him and I suspect the honeymoon will end rawther quickly.

and announce in September after the Nobel Prize committee choose the nominee Gore the Peach Prize. What a tremendous send off that would be for his entry into the presidential race, 08. No question that Al Gore has a fan base who would work for him. But from all appearances he seems to be happy crusading, writing books, giving his slide show....

I really love the guy, but I think it's best to keep on working for the things that he -- and we -- believe in, rather than expending too much energy waiting for him to run for president again.

But that's just me. :hi:

268. It does have that aura about it, doesn't it?
I think the desperate times brings that out in me. I would be vastly disappointed if he doesn't run in 08. But I will live if that is his decision and vote for whoever is the nominee.

However, that said, he was groomed for this by his family since he was a young child. He has changed minds all over the globe regarding climate change and has started the ball rolling (no pun intended - ok, yes it was) on getting the various countries to change their polluting ways... All but our country. We have growing numbers of cities, towns and states now that have initiated their own plan to address climate related issues. But without the Federal impetus, what chance do we have, the largest polluter on the planet, of changing our collective ways?

I think that the best and most sound person to effect that change, as our commander in chief, is Gore. No other candidate that I know of is addressing this as a top priority.

His work on the environment, his personal energy will probably be THE reason that the climate crisis is averted or put off for a number of years. His recent book, Assault on Reason, outlines the problems we are facing politically, socially, and economically and lists solutions. He speaks of a rebirth of Democracy at the end of the book. I am hopeful that he will be the person leading us toward that.

And its ok if you don't share my passion on this - that's what makes this a great place to post. Differing opinions sometimes nudge me toward a different outlook than I had prior to coming here. But I think he is very capable of multi-tasking and that if he is POTUS, he will galvanize volunteers here and abroad like never before seen. He will not have to do this alone. He is in the right place at the right time to do that.

...it will be too hard to say "ce'st la vie" won't it? ;-) OTOH, he can't win if he doesn't run, right?

Al Gore is a superb human being, and we are lucky to have him in whatever capacity. I'd like to see him assume his rightful office, too. It may sound strange in the context of impending environmental ruin, but his optimism touches me -- the optimism that leads him to say that political will is a renewable resource.

It will be hard if he chooses not to but what an amazing human to be doing what he is doing currently. No one can fault him if he doesn't choose to run.

I do think his own personal political will would be a terrific force in favor of environmental controls.

251. I was trained in Nashville by Gore
in January of this year with The Climate Project. And while people were standing in line waiting to talk to Mr Gore, I went over to his Chief of Staff, Roy Neal, and I told him that more than 1/2 of my county Democrats were hoping that Gore was going to run.

I thought it would be rude to bring it up to Mr Gore when I had a chance to speak to him as we were at an Climate Crisis training and that should be the topic of conversation. But I feel like I did my part.

413. I applied because I thought it would be a great opportunity
and I had experience interpreting complex scientific data for differnt audiences. Had written grants on biomonitoring or testing of environmental chemicals in humans for two states.

Anyway - I have done 14 presentations and just did one last week for a "Country Club" crowd in the more affluent part of the county - there were audible gasps in the crowd during the presentation - they really were impressed by passion, presentation and information.

As for the politics in my presentations - if I am presenting to a Democratic group I will add politics but if I am presenting to a group that I do not know - I do not add politics - but I do add that you should contact your leaders no matter what party they are a part of.

I've had a great time giving the presentations - and it really has improved my overall presentation and power point and public speaking skills as well. It feels good to be given an opportunity like this and then after step up to the challenge and raise the bar for your own self.

THey are going great - we had to pledge to do 10 within the year and I have already done 14 to about 320 people of all differnet stripes, ages and political affiliations. Just this past week I presented to about 40-50 country club folks and they were thouroughly impressed. And I gave out cards after - A German buisnessman was very impressed and said that his buisness associates should see this. So I may be getting more calls soon - but I have to pace myself as I do this volunteer and I have a job and a child and the Democratic party and well I try to fit a life in there somewhere. Thank you so much for supporting me.

where he seemed unable or unwilling to let the "new Al" have free reign, and statred sounding tenative and mealy-mouthed again. I want the free, roaring, angry Al that wrote that book and made all those great speeches, not the Al Gore that ran back in 2000.

That's all I was saying. If he's just going to bring out the Gore c. 2000 version, he shouldn't bother. I want the Gore c. 2002+ version out there, mad as hell, and taking the place by storm, DLC be damned!

I think it was when I saw that that I thought I had best reconsider my former opinion of him. My sister has worked her magic on me as she has supported him ever since he decided to start airlifting people out of New Orleans on his own dime rather than wait for FEMA to not do their job.

He is a doer. His intellectualism hasn't made him popular. But he has the knowledge and the ideas to pull us out of this quagmire. Or so I think.

260. Forgive Al for not putting himself through the right wing hate crap again.
I'll forgive him if he decides not to run. Actually, I'll probably have more respect for him. I think he is tired of fighting the rightwing hate crap directly and would just rather work out of the limelight. Despite what the right wingers are saying about how his "Inconvient Truth" as a political stunt, he really doesn't want to run for president again and I don't blame him at all.

The righwingers are so hard to deal with. They are the sleeze, smear, slander kings and would work hard to smear Jesus Christ if he were running. I'm so sick of these punks - I'd really like to see them slammed to their rightful place but I know I'm talking to the choir here.

OK so my mainstream choice/hope is: Gore-Edwards '08. But if Al decides to remain seated then Edwards-Obama '08. (Actually, I'll likely vote Kuchinich in the primary unless I really feel like my vote is essential to block Hillary.)

270. I will certainly understand if his
choice is not to run. He, more than any other modern day politician, has been through the ringer. Choosing not to be part of that craziness again is understandable.

That said, I think he is stronger now because of his ordeal. He is as not as concerned about the media as he was in 2000 and before. He calls them on their partisan s**t in his book. His interview with that pest Diane Sawyer illustrates how he will set the tone for his interviews with the press and they best be aware not to pull anything smelling like yellow journalism or be publically humilated and exposed as idiots - as she was.

I think the crises, and there are many, are bigger than any one person's pain. And I think he will heed the call of his country to step forward and run. He has more tools to turn this around than any of the other DEMs running so far. We need to be prepared to help him. He can't do it alone. There is too much to do. That's why this letter campaign may assure him that he is NOT in it alone. He has our support if he will lead us.

The real question is not how Al would deal with the 'morans', the question is how would the media speak to the casual (non-activist in media terms) voter?

Frankly I think the new media can kick the shit out of the cable tv media. Leggy giggles at Roves's cruel jokes may still get ratings, but they no longer control the message.

Eight years ago (or more) I would have shot myself for saying this but Al is our only hope. I've disliked the man since I first knew who he was in 1988. He's changes. He's more human, he's more responsible. He's playing their game better than any of them because he realizes this is no longer a game.
There are serious issues that need to be reconciled or not just the dems or reubs are gone, not just the USA is finished, but the human race as we know it is over.

He is our only choice.

I sent him a very disappointed letter in 2001... maybe I wasn't alone in thinking more could have been done. But as he has said recently, he felt his choice was either continue to pursue it and start a civil war or back down and accept the situation as it was ILLEGALLY determined by the SCOTUS.

What a strong man to even consider talking to this nation again after what he went through.

282. How about post cards?
Almost everyone lives in a place where out-of-towner's buy postcards to send home.

Post cards are cheap, colorful, cheaper to send, and you don't need as much postage to send them.

They also illustrate all the different places the cards are coming from, without the

burden of one person having to open & read them all. (not to mention saving the trees that provide

envelopes for letters).

Send a post card with a quick message to:

Honorable Al Gore
2100 West End Avenue, Suite 620
Nashville, TN 37203

Maybe a second postcard for Tipper, we're going to need her help too!

Three times and I think I will see it a few more. I like that it gives individuals action items to do right away to start the process of reverting this environmental catastrophe. He offers hope in the face of a pretty dire situation.

I recommend reading his latest book too - his knowledge on history and politics is as amazingly extensive as it is on environmental issues.

Poll Finds Wis. Voters Give Giuliani, Gore Highest Marks
June 19, 2007

MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin Republicans have a better impression of former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani than they do of hometown political giant Tommy Thompson, according to a new poll released Tuesday.

The University of Wisconsin Survey Center's Badger Poll asked for impressions of presidential candidates in each party, in addition to potential candidate Al Gore.

Giuliani had the highest favorable rating among Republicans at 64 percent, beating out Thompson at 58 percent. John McCain came in a distant third at 16 percent.

Gore was viewed favorably by 62 percent of Democrats, followed by New York Sen. Hillary Clinton with 60 percent. Illinois Sen. Barack Obama came in third with 57 percent, followed closely by former vice-presidential candidate John Edwards.

despite the right wing smear that will be sure to hit - he would win against Guiliani and against Romeny ... the polls can't really answer this question because people aren't seeing him in the news every day.

Actually, That's what I think of a Hilary Clinton nomination and I don't really support her anyway. She is a sell out in my opinion. Gore is a partial sellout but he has learned his leasons somewhat on that front.

Also, I think Gore is the candidate who would face and debunk the rw smear machine best. In his appearances lately, he has an amazing air of confidence and seems at ease calling bullshit.

Even the best of the dem candidates who're already in the race will not call bullshit when they hear it - afraid they might offend the faux news audience.

Bottom line - Gore's team could control the spin and keep on top of the news cycles.

To me, the only other way he could lose is if the Big Dog somehow sabotaged him, which I think is unlikely. I'm sure Bill understands why Gore tried to distance himself in 2000, but in reality, Gore's strategy worked - it's just too bad the Supreme Fuckers saw it otherwise.

do you think Hillary would take the bottom of the ticket? That, to me would be the running mate that could possibly drag Gore down. I like and respect Hillary for many things, but I just don't think she has the instincts to handle a dirty election - I'm pretty sure the '08 rethugs will make '04 look like a beauty pageant in comparison. That's why I'm backing any candidate who is willing to run a scorched-earth campaign. Fuck pandering; fuck triangulating. The only way to get these fuckers out of power once and for all is to go for the jugular.

- about Hillary having learned. But I don't think she's capable of going with her visceral response, the way Bill did and Al does - to really smash the rw talking points in real time. She's too careful, in my opinion. A good example is her inability this past week to give Tweety a yes or no answer about a Scooter pardon. There's only one acceptable answer to that question, but she wouldn't give it.

389. Spoke with someone who worked on his campaign and knows him
very well. Met her at the Jefferson-Jackson dinner in GA last month ( a big annual Dem fundrasier, Edwards was the invited speaker) -- she said that he's really happy doing what he's doing right now, but that the door is not sealed shut against running. I guess the question is whether Dem leadership would work to recruit him and support him -- after all, it takes a bizillion dollars and support from leadership to launch a successful campaign.

Gore! Gore! Gore!

398. Another thought...
do you think that a letter campaign to Dem leadership would work just as well (or better?) as letters to Gore?

400. Oh man...you're actually asking me to DO something to encourage
this wonderful man to run? Bah...I'm an apathetic American, tsk, tsk.

:sarcasm:

How short and what should I say? Is this too short:

Dear Al,

RUN!!!

MJDuncan1982

?

If you can't tell, my smartass motor is in high gear today:)

416. great thread.
Those who would vote for him, send him a postcard "I'll vote for you". Democratic or Republican; if the voting apparatus won't count votes properly maybe his office will

because the assumption would be that only DEMs would write him.
