Thompson, Clinton lead Nevada voters, poll shows
snip

On the Democratic side, Clinton led with 39 percent, followed by Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois with 17 percent, former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina with 12 percent, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson with 7 percent and Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware with 2 percent. The other Democrats had 1 percent or less.

Clinton's strong showing came as no surprise to Nevada political analysts, who said the New York senator is well ahead of her rivals in organization. The results signal problems for Richardson, a Hispanic from the region who is counting on a strong showing in Nevada.

"That's consistent with what we're hearing. She's got a stronger team on the ground," said Nevada Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus, a Democrat who recently endorsed Clinton.

In contrast, Thompson has done nothing publicly to prepare for the nominating caucuses, which require significant organization to guarantee a good turnout at the time-consuming meetings.

1. Continue to underestimate Thompson...
Everyone on this board scratches their heads and cannot even fathom the possibility that Fred Thompson could be the next president. They joke about "Titsy McBigboobs" and "meat curtains" and "Creature from the black lagoon". What we should be doing is gearing up for a fight with him, because he WILL be the nominee for the Pugs.

I can assure you that I have seen him in action in Tennessee and you are woefully deluding yourselves if you do not take him FAR more serious than the rest of these GOP clowns.

2. You are so in love with him, you're even taking the insults personally. Weird.

3. Not at all....
I keep screaming this on here because very few on this board take Thompson as seriously as he should be taken. I am not taking any comments about Thompson personally, I have seen him sweep this state and know what he will be capable of with the full might of the national GOP behind him.

Al Gore could certainly not even beat him in Tennessee, although he is our best bet for the general election....Hillary and Obama? Forget it....Can you say "President Thompson".

Remember, you heard it here first unless people get of their asses and fight the right enemy with the right candidate.

5. Do you remember a professional wrestler & horror movie actor called "The Swedish Angel".
Check out a picture of him next to a picture of Fred Thompson.

6. Sadly you are correct
Fred Thompson would unite the GOP base under one banner that has been spilt by George Bush. He is leading in the polls and he hasn't even done anything yet. Hillary Clinton, while a mighty political opponent is not bullet proof by any strech of the imagination. Fred Thompson will easily carry the south and probably a lot of swing states. I think Barack Obama could beat Thompson head to head but only time will tell.

7. Uh--what are WE on DU supposed to do, besides not promote him or vote for him?
Get off my ass and do what? I don't really know what you're getting at here. You are a genuinely strange person--every few weeks, you surface on a Fred-thread and "warn" us that we're doomed, that we're not taking you or Thompson seriously enough. Have you seen the vast number of threads related to him here, most of them very negative? I myself have posted about his Iran blatherings and his PAC-profiteering. I assure you that adequate attention is paid to this utter jackass. If there is something specific you want us to do, please let us know what that is. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go "fetal" under my computer desk, piss myself, and wait for the Fred-pocalypse that you have prophesied.

11. Umm... we Tennesseans on this board aren't in love with him at all.
We just know what's looming. We can hear it on local talk radio and from our lesser-informed co-workers and friends.

The only thing we're taking personally is the fact that you guys aren't going to know what hit you in a couple of months.

16. "You guys aren't going to know what hit you"--is he Christ? Is he the Second Coming?
Are the waters about to be parted and the rocks split open? Sorry, to me, he's just another Republican shitbag--he may be the nominee, but...so? We'll deal with it. He's been a contender since March. How many "warnings" do we need? Good Lord. And I thought it was odd that the poster was able to remember, and bothered to list, many of the insults about him--why would anyone care if we insult Republicans? That's what we do here--it's the official sport of DU.

8. Seven months away and a strong second from Obama could split the 34 NV delegates
This caucus should be interesting, if only because the Iowa caucus could set the stage for the NV results.

19. My predictions are based on events a few months from now...
...so unless you have a time machine available, you'll have to wait.

Speaking of the bet, how about this:

Obama will beat Clinton in the Nevada caucus on January 19th, 2008. $200 money order or PayPal.
