Who do you think would make the best vp choice for Edwards?

Poll question: Who do you think would make the best vp choice for Edwards?

If he gets the nomination of course. I haven't included some people some here might suggest, like Dean or Ed Rendell because I don't think Edwards would ever pick someone with less foriegn policy cred than he has. He'd pick someone with gravitas in all probability. I also didn't offer Bill Richardson because he has repeatedly said that he would not abandon his governorship to run for vp in the middle of his 1st term. That being said, please give me you're opinion.

I'll attempt to give a short reasoning for why someone would make an ok choice if people here aren't familiar with them.

John Edwards is the tip of the spear that is to blame for popping our economic balloon.

Ask anyone who follows the economy for a lving. That's the meme that emerged this week.

Many states have implemented damage caps, and none of them have seen any decrease in insurance premiums.

The premiums rose when the insurance companies lost money in the stock market, not because of a few large damage awards.

The legal costs are incurred by paying too many lawyers prosecuting and defending frivolous cases, not from cases where the evidence is clear and large damages are awarded.

14. Blanche Lincoln

Now, I know what you're all thinking, but I've given this a lot of thought and I think that Blanche would be Edwards best ticket choice for the following reasons:

1. Both of them are from the South. Say what you will about Clinton/Gore, but they did win two elections, and they both were from the South. Two Southerners is a plan that has worked in the past.

2. Blanche is from a swing state (Arkansas). She would certainly give us a boost in that state, along with Louisiana, Missouri, West Virigina, and the Midwest.

3. She is young and a newer politician. With one term in the Senate and two terms in the House, she's by no means a career politician. This would cause a lot of excitement among independents who want to see a real change. Why not vote for Edwards/Lincoln, a vote for a different (read better) America?

4. Can you imagine the debate between Blanche, this charming Southern woman who you just can't help but like, and Dick Cheney, the Mr. Potter of politics. Add that to the strong Southern oratory of Sen. Edwards vs. the bumbling mannerisms of George W., and we'd win all the debates in a walk.

5. Now for the flighty (but in politics, sometimes the flighty is just as important as the heavyweight) aspect of this campaign. Edwards/Lincoln would be the most camera-friendly ticket this country has ever seen, especially compared to that of Bush/Cheney.

Now, for those who worry that we'd lose Blanche's Senate seat (Gov. Huckabee could appoint a Republican), Edwards, should he suddenly jump into the lead, could select his candidate early, as a message to all the voters that he's ready to start turning this country in a new direction. Gen. Wesley Clark certainly has a newfound universal name recognition and could jump into the race. And even if he were holding out for a cabinet position, Rep. Mike Ross has basically said the next available Senate seat, he'll run (and he'd be a wonderful candidate).

The only other Edwards veep I could possibly see is Sen. Mary Landrieu, mainly because she fits all of the criteria I presented above.

Oh, and to all of you who might be worried about how we'd handle the "Is she ready to be president?" questions, just take this one soundbyte-
"We've never had a problem with a President Lincoln before"

And I don't know how you can say that a man who won Florida statewide 5 times, can't help deliver a state we "lost" by 500 votes for a candidate who has more relatability to Floridian independants in all liklihood than Gore, plus the Nader voters who are 100 times more likely to vote democrat this time around

You may not be old enough to remember Biden but I'm not. It stuck with me as my family is from Delaware and it was quite an embarrassment.

Clark lied about White House calls to him that never occurred. You must have missed that.

I love Graham but I think Edwards has a reasonable shot at delivering FLA without him on the ticket and Bob campaigning down there as I'm sure he will.

We need help on the ticket where its most difficult and FLA is not it.

22. I'm so sure that Biden cut a deal to let Clarence Thomas get nominated.

His demeanor changed DRAMATICALLY on the day that witnesses were going to testify in support of Anita Hill's testimony. They cancelled those witnesses, called a vote and Thomas was on the Supreme Court.

I'd love to know what he got in exchange for the justice who gave us W.

It's a safe seat, so we don't lose anything, she's one of the best people in Congress, she's incredibly personable and attractive, she's a breath of fresh air and it's a bold choice.

For sake of the poll, I voted for Carl Levin--which is a very inspired suggestion, I might add--but I'd really love to wow 'em with a really extreme choice like Schakowsky.

I must say that it's people like Carl Levin that give me real hope for some sanity to prevail in these times of idiocy; surely he deserves a bigger place in the power structure.
