2. Norway for Edwards.
I am a Norwegian who have been following the 2004 democratic primary elections with great interest. It feels like the destiny of the entire globe rests on who's gonna be in the Whitehouse the next four years.

Unfortunately, many of the candidates have dissapointed me. It seems like the candidates with integrity have been eliminated first. Gephardt, Lieberman...or are not into the running at all like Kucinich.

However, thankfully the most able man is still there: Edwards.

Cheers.

3. Glad to have your support.
Will support from Norway quiet the foreign policy experience criticism?

6. Don't get your hopes up :-)
Unfortunately, it seems like all the political commentators are very happy with Kerry. I think Kerry's father spent some years in Norway, and they are already labing him a "friend of Norway" :-)

However, conserning foreing policy experience: What did Reagan, Clinton or W. Bush have. In my opinion, when Edwards selects his cabinet and VP the any critique of lack of foreign policy experience will be meningless.

I cannot believe I feel so strongly about this: If Kerry wins the nomination I will be seriously depressed. First of all I just don't trust him. Secondly, I think his electibility is a "myth"

Vote Kerry if you want another four years of GWB!

9. Your beliefs are shared by many in the Edwards camp.
...I hope we aren't proven right about Kerry's electability.

Welcome to DU and to our cozy crowd of Edwards supporters! :hi:

13. "Doctrine & Vision" is much more important than "Experience"

when it comes to foreign policy. If the president has the right
frame of mind in dealing with foreign threats and foreign friends,
then he will benefit American interests. Otherwise he won't improve
American interests didly bit regardless of how many foreign trips
he made or how many foreign leaders he met.

And Edwards will do just fine as a president when it comes to
foreign matters.

4. I like the candidate that Norway likes!
Now if we could get Sweden on board, we can get all the great social democracies behind the social democrat.

8. Thanks :-)
I seriously have never been so inspired by a politician as i have been by Edwards.. And, coming from a family of Arbeiderparti politicians (Norwegian Labour), I still remember sitting up at all night wih my father as a six year old watching the 1980 elections rooting for President Carter.

But before you praise me too much, I actually like Colin Powell too. Just shoot me ;-)

10. Oh, and another thing :-)
I absolutely adore Tony Blair. I actually see a little bit of Tony Blair in Edwards, and that to my mind is the biggest compliment I can give.

I seriously think some of you get confused about Blair, and unfairly mix him up with GWB. Few men have done so much for the progressive cause as Blair have done. I urge all of you to have a look at his speech to the Labour congress in 2001. President Edwards would correct Blair's recent errors on the international stage and would mage a formidable pair on the global stage.

Go Edwards...

11. Tony Blair is probably the best politician I've seen in my lifetime.
He is seriously misunderstood. He is beating back fascism with a smile in the UK. People don't realize what he's up against and they don't realize that he is winning. The change in the UK since May 1997 is amazing. Wages are up, unemployment is down, and their putting barricades up agains the possiblity of Thatchers and Majors every being elected again.

I think Blair and Edwards would be a better team than Jagger-Richards.

16. I support DK, but....
....John Edwards is the only candidate running who I actually voted for. I lived in North Carolina from 1995-2001 and proudly voted for him him twice (once in the primary and once in the general election) in 1998. I am glad to see him run a very high quality populist-style campaign, just like he did in 1998. He was able to win in a generally conservative state and can do it again nation-wide in the general election if he gets the nomination. I would DEFINTIELY support Sen. Edwards if he is nominated.

22. Edwards needs to really shine in today's debate
He has to take on the class warfare issue head on, and deal with NAFTA and other trade issues to differentiate himself from Kerry without bashing him.

Dean is now the spoiler, and like Clark, his unwillingness to accept reality is like a gift from the gods for Kerry.

With a strong showing today and some striking movement in the polls, it may become a two-man race with just enough time to squeak it out. (In all seriousness, it's been a two-way race since South Carolina.) Much as the press would prefer Kerry be the candidate, the Edwards "story" will be mighty tempting, and infotainment dynamics could give this story some legs.

March 2nd is mighty close, but there might just be enough time to hit hard.

Did Clark just screw up everything, or WHAT? This isn't the place for acrimony, but his display of befuddled self-absorption and then slashing negative campaigning has messed up the whole process from the outset of his riding in to clean up Dodge. I'm not the least bit sorry to see him go; after his display on the tax-cut votes, the voting record and abortion in Tennessee, he cannot be called a "good guy" by any stretch, and it's been hard to be respectful of his political mourners this last week. Being that this thread is a "happy place", I apologize for the acrimony now, but it does fit under the category of solidarity and commiseration.

The Democratic Party is famous for just throwing away golden opportunities, and marginalizing Edwards ranks up there with the biggest mistakes I've ever see us make. There's still a chance, although it's smacking more of a bad movie plot than some species of reality at the moment.

Hugs and kisses, dammit, and I'll see you all in the post-mortem threads for today's debate.
