Dean Struggles to Keep His Campaign Alive
http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=politicsNews&storyID=4359891

RACINE, Wis. (Reuters) - Democratic White House contender Howard Dean faced scores of empty chairs in a more than half-empty hall on Saturday as he battled to avoid a knockout blow in Wisconsin's primary next week.

In stark contrast to the massive crowds and stand-up passion he generated just months ago as the party's front-runner, the fading anti-war, anti-Washington maverick drew only a few hundred people who remained in their seats and applauded politely.

One of the biggest applause lines came when Bob Nemanich, an executive recruiter and local school board candidate, rose in the audience and told Dean, "I want to thank you for having the courage to challenge the president and ruling Republicans."

Win or lose, Nemanich told Dean, "You defined the issues."

more...I agree with Mr. Nemanich

2. Democratic voters want a Wealthier person as their President. Someone

who appears "entitled" and therefore "electable" against the Chimp.

8. Sad isn't it. They want someone "born to it."

12. Dean is as much "old wealth" as Bush is
Dean comes from hereditary great wealth, as does Bush and Kerry. Don't even think about playing "outsider" in terms of being part of the financial aristocracy of this country; he's to the manor born.

4. Criminey!
This is incredibly sad.

As much as I dislike Dean personally, I do have some admiration for passion, and he and his supporters have that in spades.

9. I totally agree, Howard's contribution to the fight to unseat Bush
should not be understated. I fully credit Howard with giving our anger voice before the 2004 campaign started in ernest. I contributed money based solely on his strong statements against the Bush agenda. I think he deserves special recognition and a strong voice in the next Democratic administration.

That said, I'm saddened by the attacks he is now making against Kerry. It won't change the electoral facts, but it diminishes the message he eloquently campaigned on from the beginning.

11. And I'll always be saddened
that the establishment candidate Kerry voted for a pre-emptive war based on lies.
