Kerry Marches On as Scandal Rumors Fail to Ignite
Edited on Sun Feb-15-04 11:17 PM by Peeance Freeance
So far unscathed by rumours of a two-year-long affair with a 24-year-old journalist, the United States senator John Kerry could be just 24 hours away from sealing victory for the Democratic Party presidential nomination.

His crushing victories in the Nevada and Washington DC caucuses on Saturday, have tightened his grip on the nomination. Tomorrow’s primary in Wisconsin may be the last realistic chance Senator John Edwards and Howard Dean have of stopping his march to victory.

1. Why is it that we're getting our news from the Brits?
Seriously, how is the Scotsman supposed to tell me anything.

2. They're the only ones interested
Which tells us a lot. This is going nowhere no matter how hard the Repugs try.

3. Why the hell can't anything legal be done to stop
these planted rumors posing as news? Is it that difficult to prove slander/fraud?

I know the National Enquirer has been sued successfully a few times. I wish someone would sue Drudge, and then maybe we would finally be able to reveal Rove as the crook he is. (see my sig)

4. no slander, no fraud
its not difficult and the writers know how to avoid it.

If you want to be mad, be mad at Clark. It could not have been started without him.

8. Don't be so sure about Clark
Do we have anything other than Drudge's word that several reporters heard Clark repeating the rumor?

12. If you want to be mad, be mad at DRUDGE.
If the rumor they started is false, then the rumor about who started it is also false. Sorry, but "several unnamed sources" is the blather of a journalist with no weight behind his claims.

5. If it's false, denials are great. Otherwise he should just tell everyone
where to go with the nonsense about his personal life and avoid discussing the issue. I am hoping he is a lot smarter than Clinton and lightyears smarter than Gary Hart.

6. am i the only one who suspects clinton is behind this?
look i'm not a conspiracy theorist but i would not put it past Bill Clinton to release this information to destroy Kerry to improve his wife's chances in some way. I didn't like the way he used our party then moved to the middle for the election, and i guess i'm just suspect that he'll use us again in another way. i hope i'm wrong.

7. No, not the only one but it is bs
Clinton has no reason to hurt Kerry. Besides if this is proven to be false (which i am convinced it is) this will help Kerry, not hurt him. Furthermore Drudge will take such a "hit" on this that it would not surprise me if he outed the true source of the story - and Clinton would be way too smart to risk that - but Rove wouldn't, imo.

9. If Kerry goes down, Edwards gets the nod. Develop a theory from that point
and get back to us.

16. oh, come on
Clinton isn't someone who would do this and besides, I'm sure he has enough faith in his wife to let her decide what she will do in 2008

18. STATEMENT FROM WOMAN ABOUT SENATOR KERRY
Statement From Woman About Sen. Kerry

By The Associated Press

A statement released Monday by Alexandra Polier, who has been the subject of rumors linking her to Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites):

"For the last several days I have seen Internet and tabloid rumors relating to me and Senator John Kerry. Because these stories were false, I assumed the media would ignore them. It seems that efforts to peddle these lies continue, so I feel compelled to address them. I have never had a relationship with Senator Kerry, and the rumors in the press are completely false. Whoever is spreading these rumors and allegations does not know me, but should know the pain they have caused me and my family. I am in Kenya with my fiance visiting his family, and we ask that the press respect our privacy and leave all of us alone."

A statement by Terry and Donna Polier, the parents of Alexandra Polier:

"We have spoken to our daughter and the allegations that have been made regarding her are completely false and unsubstantiated. We love and support her 100 percent and these unfounded rumors are hurtful to our entire family. We appreciate the way Senator Kerry has handled the situation, and intend on voting for him for president of the United States."

19. Ah ! the pain of denial
will certainly be brought back to haunt when some news person digs up the goods to help deBush re selection. Of course you would have to believe that no one in this whole wide world knows anything or have seen anything and if they have, true loyalty and no dollar amount/prestige could pry their tongue/pen to tell the story. Time will tell the definition of is, is. Sit back and relax take a load off your feet the ride is bumpy and has just started.
