Clark's fundraiser started on Dec. 4 I believe. Dean didn't have a fundraiser up at that time, but in Dec. he's had 2 bats, the Gore bat, which raised $695k and the Attack Ad bat which raised $550k. The new bat is currently above $450k, so since mid-Dec Dean has raised almost $1.7 Million. Expect at least another $1 Million from the current bat, in which case Dean will raise $2.7 Million in December. Astounding.

please. The only published source that I'm aware of was following the 3rd quarter and Clark's $3.5m came predominately from the same places as Dean's: Chicago, NYC, CA, etc. Contributions tend to trend from major population belts. Both raised good chunks of change in TX, FL, etc.

Patriot. I'm an IT guy who is currently very underemployed. I was unemployed for over 6 months and now make about 1/4 what I was making in 2000. And I have contributed to the Clark campaign, $50 or $100 here and there to a total of $600. Including another $100 to the $1m challenge.

Read the stories of many contributors on the clark blog and you'll find all sorts of folks: young, old, retired, well off, impoverished, etc. You'll find MANY $10 & $25 contributions as well as larger contributions.

While the total number of contributors is somewhat less than Gov Dean's, their individual stories aren't all that different. And I would not, that the average Dean bat brings in from 6 to 10k contributors: not too dissimilar to the number of folks contributing to the Clark challenge and FAR short of the army of 560,000+ Dean supporters.

First Caucus, Iowa....Clark is not even running. In case someone does not know it, no democrat has ever been nominated who bypassed Iowa. But then Clark supporters must think the ex-general can accomplish miracles.

First primary, NH...Clark is distant third, Dean leading the pack by formidable numbers. Well, again the dreaming Clark supporters assume Clark will rise up from the ashes of severe mauling in NH.

Then come the first wave of primaries...Latest poll numbers show Clark behind in every one. No problem, Clark supporters are resilient folks. They will keep on giving.

Then come the second wave of primaries...Clark yet to win a single primary...now the hope is kept alive by a deadlocked convention. Oh yes, the delegates will be jolted by the tremendous Clark appeal in the GE and bolt from Dean...hey anything can happen LOL.

In the meanwhile please keep those checks coming. Keeps the unemployment numbers down with all those people in Clark campaign employed.

"Dec. 29, 2003 | WASHINGTON (AP) -- Aided by aggressive Internet campaigns, Democratic presidential candidates Howard Dean and Wesley Clark raised the most money in the final quarter of 2003, according to preliminary estimates.

Dean, the Democratic front-runner, will have raised more than $14 million in the final three months, pushing his yearly total to almost $40 million...

Clark, the retired Army general who entered the race in September, will have raised between $10 million and $12 million in the fourth quarter, for a total of almost $15 million since becoming a candidate.

Clark will get an additional bump after the New Year with an estimated $3.7 million worth of federal matching money, while Dean has declined public funds..."
