Bush has spent 418 days at ranch working as President
See Bloomberg article, I am sure that even when he's clearing Brush that he is thinking of US.

Washington's August Break: Just Don't Call It Vacation Time

White House officials stress the president has regular briefings and is on call 24/7 for any
emergency when he's in Crawford, where he has spent 418 days as president.

This year, perhaps more than most, politicians are bending over backward to avoid the appearance
of taking a holiday. ``It's the optics,'' said Ken Duberstein, chief of staff under President
Ronald Reagan, who was known for his passion for spending time at his California ranch.
"Whether you're in Congress or the White House, you must give the impression that you're
working and not tanning, that you're at your desk and not at the beach."

and all the GOP'ers want to be just like him, I think we should care.
I would like the next president to be less of a cruise director
and more of a working leader.

3. odd how nothing changes whether he's in the White House or on vacation
Maybe Cheney just sends the Great Pretender out to Crawford when President Cheney needs to get some real work done.

4. that's true
except things have a habit of happening while he's on vacation:

August 6 PDB "Osama determined to strike in US"
Hurricane Katrina

Of course, they understand Bush shouldn't spend so much time on vacation so they are not going to call it
a vacation, now it's called a recess. Problem solved.

:-(
