Kerry has got to do something about those speeches---
Edited on Wed Feb-18-04 12:11 AM by devrc243
those monotone speeches. I hang on every word hoping there will be some sense of "expression" and I just don't hear it. Ron Reagan said it best tonight, "Kerry speaks to the room," and "Edwards speaks to the people." Ouch.

Watching Hardball last night I was so impressed with Kerry 'cause--believe it or not--they really emphasised his strengths. Seeing the Vietnam pictures of him and even his stance against a "political" war gave me tremendous hope in his chance of our nominee and even his battle with Bush. I think Kerry would make a great President.

On the other hand, Edwards has the "personable" thing going, hands down. People want someone who they can feel is right there with them, especially those who are desperate for someone to hear their silent voice.

I've been active in primaries since '88 and this is the wildest one I've seen yet. If we could morph these two great candidates into one, I think we would pulverize Bush.

1. it's bad when you quote "pundits" to make your point.
they WANT a two man brawl to froth over for the next few weeks. When Kerry is making his strong points against the Bush people and outlining his message...he really inspires me. He sounds like a guy who could face down tyrants, welcome our allies, and speak frankly to congress.

He's got my vote on his seasoned speaking alone.

Not everyone can be an orator like Clinton.

5. E & K are vinyl
Yeah, it's kinda gotten to the point where i know what both Kerry & Edwards are going to say and how they are going to say it every time out.
I like the talking points Kerry has going. He hits onthem every time right offthe bat after every victory because he know the nation is tuned in and he has FREE airtime to get his message out as succinct and clear as possible. It are obviously working on a national level because he is leading dubya in the polls.
Edwards is actually the one who is getting monotonous in my book. Good grief, 2 americas, millworker, 35 million poor. I know they are all valid points but some rephrasing is in order. But, then again in this day and age of poltiics it's apparaently goodto stay on message.

7. If you're referring
to Ron Reagan as a "pundit" you may be right, however, he definitely does not share his father's politics. Quite the contrare.

Kerry IS monotone.

3. It's too late for that, now
Kerry is Kerry, has been for decades, he is not going to change his speaking style and trying to do so now might be disastrous.

You just have to take the good with the bad at this point.

Like Bush and his little problem with the English language. I think that makes them a bit more than even on this point, heh.

4. Agreed.
Kerry needs to spice up his voice intonations, some peeks a valleys would help. Even I lose focus with the even toned speech. Edwards, well, is to nice. I fear Rove would have a lot of fun with taking advantage of his goodness. He is quite pleasant to listen to though. And the weirdest part is that the media is playing him as a centrist. Sorry but anyone who wants to end NAFTA is no centrist. I like Edwards because he is a Liberal, a closet one is fine if thats what the media wants. I like Kerry because he takes no shit from the Chimp. I think Kerry would eat him up in a debate, barring slanted moderators of course.
