Their coverage was going to be more complete than any presidential year since 1972. And now, all they want to do is end it, saying it's "just too expensive" to cover them all...kind of shows you who they REALLY want to talk about--and who they really want to win, too!
Personally, I hope that in 2008--or, preferrably, in 2012--we can go back to a "normal-length" primary and caucus season, so that any candidate out there will be both "vetted" by the voters and covered by the media--because they'll have no other choice. This "front-loading is for the birds; it only accomplishes the media whores' wish that we "get it all over with" early, allowing them to suck up to Dub for eight months straight. Yet another reason why it's a GOOD thing for us if the actual contest goes on for another month, or two if that's possible...keep 'em guessing, and so keep "Chip" Rove distinctly off-balance for the first half of the year!
Plus, I want MOST of the voters to have the time to take a good, long look at our potential nominee(s) before something "comes out" about them (a scandal, etc.) when it's too late to do anything about it, and our Party's nomination is rendered all but worthless as a result. To borrow from both Paul Masson and Andy Card, "We will sell no nominee before his time"!:eyes:
We've got a real shot this year to send Dub back under the rock from which he crawled, but we need to do it right (as best we can with this schedule) and make certain we're sending the best-equipped, best-prepared person out to do the job.
:kick:
