I'm shocked -- shocked! -- that so many politicians are acting like politicians!!!
All these politicians running for office are shattering my faith in politicians by acting like politicians. And where will my moral compass come from if they keep doing that?

They're all about raising money. They cast votes in Congress based on political maneuvering. They associate with slimy people. They pander about everything from religion to terrorism, as if they're all about getting people to vote for them. They're concerned about how they look, how they laugh, how they appear when they answer tricky questions -- sometimes they don't even answer the questions! Imagine a politician squirming out of answering a question!!

They support laws that are friendly to corporations! They live in big houses! They seem to USE their spouses on the campaign trail just to try to win over more people. They speak to the political center, pandering to the red states. Not one of them has said they're socialist or communist.

I just expect MORE from the politicians I support. There's a guy on my local Board of Ed who's never taken money from lobbyists, didn't vote for the IWR, and as far as I know, never flip-flopped on anything. He could be running for national office, but the media never talks about him, so I'll bet they wouldn't let him into any of the debates.

Sometimes it seems like politics is just a dirty game! It shouldn't be that way -- it has to stop! Right this minute!

Sorry, I'm just really frustrated. Why? Because I expect so much more from politicians, that's why!!

:sarcasm:

1. When you have a politician
like Russ Feingold out there it tends to make you raise the bar on your expectations because you realize that there are politicians out there who are true statesmen and that it can be that one can be a politician and do the right thing.

2. I think if he were running for president
there'd be dirt dished about him, too.

I just think it's folly to expect politicians to be anything other than, well, politicians. They don't get nominated for sainthood.

3. Yup. Though I respect Feingold greatly, I agree
I know someone would dredge up his vote where it appeared he was supporting Bill Clinton's impeachment for one thing - and of course some folks would find some other grounds to find him wanting on also. Having said that I acknowledge that Russ Feingold has uncommonly high integrity and the courage of his convictions.
