State Dems line up for Hillary Clinton
By Mary Beth Schneider
Seven big-name Democrats in Indiana from former First Lady Judy O'Bannon to House Speaker B. Patrick Bauer have signed up to be co-chairmen of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign in Indiana. Clinton already had high-powered Hoosier help, with
Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., endorsing her and accepting the title as her co-chairman of her national campaign.
Joining her campaign today are
O'Bannon; Bauer; Marion County Sheriff Frank Anderson; Sen. Vi Simpson, D-Ellettsville; Bren Simon, wife of Indiana Pacers co-owner Herb Simon; former Lt. Gov. Kathy Davis and former House Speaker John Gregg, D-Sandborn. Former Secretary of State Joe Hogsett had earlier signed on to support Clintons campaign.
Other Hoosiers are supporting other candidates.
Two former Democratic state party chairmen Robin Winston and Ann DeLaney are among those backing John Edwards.
And among those backing Illinois Sen. Barack Obama are Melina Kennedy, who ran for Marion County prosecutor in 2006; former state health commissioner Dr. Woodrow Myers; former Bloomington Mayor John Fernandez and lobbyist and party activist Kip Tew.
