A day after winning Tuesday's Wisconsin primary, U.S. Sen. John Kerry gained ground in the Gate City.
Wednesday night, the Pocatello Central Labor Council agreed to support Kerry, a Democratic presidential hopeful from Massachusetts. The announcement comes less than a week before Idaho's Democratic Caucus. Ron Davies, president of the local chapter of the Professional Fire Fighters of Idaho, tendered the motion to endorse Kerry, which was accepted unanimously.
"(John Kerry) has consistently fought for legislation that strengthens our ability to protect our communities and our families," Davies said. "John Kerry has stood by America's workers again and again and now it is time for us to support him."

Mike Hoover, president of the local labor council, said members are looking forward to helping Kerry's Idaho campaign. He added that the labor council is actively encouraging its members to participate in the caucus. "The Pocatello labor community is proud to endorse a man that has fought hard for jobs and our families," said Hoover, who also heads the local Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union. "John Kerry knows that a jobless economic recovery is not a recovery at all."
