I gotta' say, Hillary won me over (a bit) last night.
I'll preface this by saying that I'm caucusing for Biden, and that's not likely to change. And I'll also preface this by saying I've never been a fan of hers...in fact I'm pretty critical of her, but last night I was caught off guard how much I liked her. I kept saying to myself "Snap out of it! This is HILLARY!"
I loved when Campbell Brown asked her what she meant about the "boys club" and Hillary just paused and said "Campbell" in that motherly-you-know-as-well-as-I-do way.
Throughout the night she pulled off a few zingers with panache, and while I still don't agree with her on many of the issues, I came away from the night feeling a little better, and a little more open-minded about Senator Clinton. And the final chuckle was the pearls/diamonds question. She showed style and class, and as much as I hate to admit it, I really liked her.

10. It doens't matter what she does in the debate...it only matters in the voting booth.
Otherwise, Kerry would have won in a land slide because he was very good in the debates.

2. Me too. Her connection to Mark Penn troubles me greatly.
I also want universal health care, not the chance for everybody to buy universal health care.

But personality-wise, I liked her very much last night.

3. Biden went from not being on my radar to second place for me.

Even though I am a Hillary supporter, I gave the debate last night to Biden.

5. You're veering from the script!!!

Page 3,562!!

"She's polarizing and nobody I know likes her. She carries all that baggage and I'm suspicious of the Clintons. They're frauds, and corrupt, and she cackles, and he has affairs!"

You know, just like our friends Scaife and the Merry Band of Elves have been telling us for over 15 years! Now open your script and read it as though you just thought of all the words yourself and never heard it all before.

8. What we were watching last night was a winner showing how the game should be played.
She has overcome her lack of voice tonality, her rather lusterless speeches (compared to Bill, which is pretty rough competition), and her wonkishness. What she has done is hone her extensive knowledge base and combined it with real fire.

Biden showcased his talent, wit and intelligence as well last night. Another star. Even Richardson really impressed me with his sheer variety of experience (state, international, energy).

Frankly, I can't see any repub currently running who could come near touching any of our leading candidates, but especially Hillary. She looks presidential.

9. I thought she was flat and over-rehearsed.
2/3 of the entire debate was a do-over, the questions so obviously geared towards letting her correct, clarify and reiterate gaffes and bad answers from the first debate. I was, quite honestly, looking for a "hump" in her clothing after the first 1/2 hour.

I thought that your boy, Joe came out with some of the best remarks of the night. Very succinct and to the point. If DK wasn't running, I think he would be my obvious choice...

13. Let me welcome you to DU..
:hi:

and tell you that I absolutely agree on Biden. I thought he was great last night. And Kucinich did great too...I loved his patriot act zinger! Ouch! I gained a LOT of respect for him last night too..I just wish they would quit shafting him on time, and let him be heard.
And re: Sen. Clinton...I think I see what you are getting at, but for me personally I appreciated her humor. I haven't become a Clinton cheerleader, but some of her lighter responses made me lighten up a bit on her, and for me that's a good thing. Her policies aside, I seem to have this visceral reaction to her and everything she does, and it has bothered me. She's the only candidate that I just couldn't like even a little (and I never have...not even when she was first lady). It's been hard here on DU because I want to support all of our candidates, because even our worst is better than the best the repukes have to offer.

12. My ideal ticket:
Clinton/Biden or Biden/Clinton. That is, I believe, the most winning ticket and also, I believe, the two people who can do the best job turning this country around. They are the grown-ups.

P.S. Notice how I preface my statements with "I believe". That's because it's my opinion. I find it annoying when so many on this board, especially the Clinton-haters, state their opinions as if they are facts. Do you really think that just because you said it, we think it's true???? Yes, every person who booed Edwards was bussed in by Hillary. Every question asked was planted by Hillary. Everybody who thinks Hillary won the debate is on crack. LOL! If CNN really was on Hillary's side (that's a laugh), why didn't they ask Obama about dissing Tom Hayden Democrats?

15. Thank you for your kind comments.
Biden did very well yet again in this debate and his speech about what people care about really moved me.
