It's a valid question. I'm not sure why anyone would pretend it's not.

The role of the vice president has not tended to be the Cheney OVP. And even in President Clinton's case, in which he generally had a very good relationship with VP Gore, he clearly looked to other people for imput on many issues. There is no question that Senator Clinton was one of those people.

It is unlikely that President Bush1 relied heavily on VP Quayle for much beyond comic relief. Nixon was not close to Agnew, and JFK's relied primarily upon his Attorney General.

No matter who gets the democratic nomination, and who they pick for a VP, if the democrats win, I assume Bill Clinton will play a significant role in the next administration. Should it be Senator Clinton, it seems obvious he will play a larger role than in any of our other candidates' administions.

People are going to have differing opinions on what role they would want Bill Clinton to play in the general election and the next administration. It makes for an interesting and important topic to discuss.

I think her VP will hold sway on the areas he's delegated, and her husband will have input into the areas where he is asked to assist, as well as get the "General Sounding Board" role.

I'd imagine whosoever he VP might be, should she make the cut, would be onboard with the realities of the situation. At least it wouldn't be a surprise, like, say, Nancy Reagan or Mrs. Wilson was.

And, FWIW, anyone who has a former President in the family and DOESN'T USE THEM is a FUCKING IDIOT. It's not a question of "Is that WISE?" It's LUNACY to IGNORE that asset.

because it's fair to assume that there's no way to accurately designate "equal" influence. If there's a crisis situation, it's fair to assume that if her VP has one opinion, and her husband has another, she would choose one or the other. She couldn't choose both, and she couldn't choose neither.
