Edwards Slams Bush
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Senator John Edwards often says he wants to avoid the “bickering” of Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama, even as he attacks their proposals.

That stab at civility apparently does not apply to President Bush.

Speaking last night in front of the Iowa City Foreign Relations Council, Mr. Edwards took questions from the audience, criticizing Mr. Bush in unusually fiery terms.

...

The world cannot continue to see the United States as a country that’s belligerent, selfish and only interested in the expansion of American power, Mr. Edwards said.

“George Bush does not represent me,” he said. “And I doubt that he represents many people in this room.”

1. Edwards calls it like it is.
On the $20 billion arms deal the Bush administration negotiated with
the Saudis:

“This is insanity, I mean complete insanity,” Mr. Edwards said, then
invoked the Sept. 11 terrorists. “Most of them came from Saudi
Arabia.”

3. Thanks for posting this - I attended this event and tried to hit on
most of his main points on a post later that night in GDP, but I did forget some important stuff, particularly his comments on the Saudi arms deal.

4. Wow! I am glad to see he stopped that bickering--the last debate
showed him that it was not working.
