The sanctimonious bullshit on Hillary's attacks is hypocritical
Edited on Sun Dec-02-07 09:46 PM by Herman Munster
Obama and Edwards both spent 2 months attacking Hillary. And it worked. Obama is now the frontrunner in Iowa. Well, it's time for him to take some of his medicine.

To bash Hillary for doing the same thing Obama did to her is hypocritical. Period.

For us bullshitters, we'd prefer to be called sanctimonious because it sounds pretty cool, but my bullshit has never risen to that level.

What does it take?

21. Memories are pretty short here at times! Hillary went on attack LAST JULY!
...calling Obama "irresponsible and frankly naive".

Now she has been painted by some jokesters as Ms Innocent and now she is attacked (whine, whine) and has to fight back. As if she didn't throw here share of dirt way back in July.

Mention anything about Hillary, or even point out her present decline in the polls, and you are bound to be called a "hillary hater".

Well, in my view, such name calling is irresponsible and frankly naive!

So, yes, snake....what goes around comes around. And it is coming around now on Hillary. Finally.

12. Her "attacks" (really childish tantrums) are beyond anything in the other campaigns.
Today, she "attacked" him for a kindergarten essay! She's trying to present herself as the more "mature, experienced" candidate? She's rapidly losing her illuison of any "gravitas" with her childish antics. The voters will turn away from her in disgust. She needs to grow up!

37. This is interesting:

SiCKO: $100 million spent to defeat Hillary's health care plan.

  • "Even before debate began in Congress, a powerful coalition had been cobbled together to fight Clintoncare, as opponents labeled it - congressional Republicans, the insurance industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the National Federation of Independent Businesses, the Business Roundtable, the Christian Coalition, the conservative radio talk show network. Those groups spent between $100 million and $ 300 million to defeat it. And the battle was fought like a presidential campaign - with a TV advertising campaign, a network of field operatives and public relations experts to lobby members of Congress back in their districts." Rob Christensen, "Who killed health care reform? Answer: Everyone," News & Observer, June 19, 1996.

  • "In 1993-94, the Health Insurance Association of America, a trade group, spent about $15 million on advertising to defeat Clinton's proposed overhaul of the nation's health care system." John MacDonald, "Proponents, Opponents Join Battle Over Drug Price Limits," Hartford Courant, June 21, 2000.

  • "'We spent $1.4 million to fight President Clinton's plan,' says." Harold Cox, "Business will spearhead Health Reform II ; Old enemies of Clinton's plan in lead," Washington Times, December 27, 1994.

  • "A study by Citizen Action, a consumer group, reports that doctors, hospitals, insurance companies and other providers of medical services made campaign contributions of $ 79 million during the 1993-1994 election cycle. The insurance industry passed out $16 million. The American Medical Association, which objects to cost-control measures, contributed $ 3 million." Froma Harrop, "The big lie about health reform," Rocky Mountain News, August 20, 1995.

  • "According to spokesman Brent Bahler, the group has not bought any airtime for commercials but has 'tentative plans' for a grassroots advocacy effort that would include an advertising component. Last year, Bahler said, the CSE spent more than $2 million on print, radio and television advertising to defeat Clinton's health care reform plan." James A. Barnes, "RNC Turns To TV Ads On Budget," National Journal, 5.16.95.

    http://www.michaelmoore.com/sicko/checkup/

  • But I guess you meant this:

SiCKO: Hillary Clinton became the second largest recipient in the Senate of health care industry contributions.

"As she runs for re-election to the Senate from New York this year and lays the groundwork for a possible presidential bid in 2008, Mrs. Clinton is receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from doctors, hospitals, drug manufacturers and insurers. Nationwide, she is the No. 2 recipient of donations from the industry, trailing only Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, a member of the Republican leadership." Raymond Hernandez and Robert Pear, "Once an Enemy, Health Industry Warms to Clinton," New York Times, July 12, 2006.

Until there's evidence that she compromised any votes because of lobbyist money, then it's just speculation.

by way of the Left Coaster.

…how did “populist”, “anti-special-interest”-crusader John Edwards vote in Congress after taking a sum total of ZERO dollars from PACs and lobbyists? He voted in favor of a Bankruptcy Bill not once but twice, voted against filibustering the bill and voted against some progressive amendments to the Bill, he supported NAFTA as recently as 2004, he voted in favor of storing nuclear waste at Yucca mountain, he voted in favor of No Child Left Behind, he voted in favor of the Andean trade agreement and easing trade relations with China - not to mention, he voted in favor of the 2002 Iraq war authorization resolution and stood by his vote in 2004, he voted against an attempt to restrict the Iraq war authorization to one year, he voted against creating an independent report on pre-war intelligence manipulation, he voted against an attempt to raise taxes to fund the war, and he voted in favor of labeling Iran a state sponsor of terrorism. You get the picture.

With this “pledge” stunt of his, I unfortunately have to draw the line and point out that some of us still have some brains left and don’t intend to email either the “pledge” or our brains to him. Sen. Edwards is running on a platform that says you can only trust people who take no contributions from PACs/lobbyists. As he has shown through his own career in the Senate, this claim can be catastrophically wrong. Who you take money from is a factor, but it is absolutely not the kind of defining factor that Sen. Edwards makes it out to be. What matters most is the character and ideology of the individual - NOT who they take money from. Lawyer-turned-lobbyist Sen. Fred Thompson (R-TN) has about $100K in PAC receipts, Republican Governor Mike Huckabee has taken barely $20,000] from PACs and Republican Governor Mitt Romney has about $300,000 in PAC funds - and all of them are far to the right of Sen. Hillary Clinton even though they have taken much less PAC money than she has. In other words, Sen. Clinton is very progressive on corporatist matters even when compared to Sen. Edwards and Sen. Obama and you have three top Republican candidates who are far to her right who have taken significantly less contributions from PACs than she has.

    40. Yes, Herman it is.
Obama will become more scrutinized now because he's risen in the polls. That means he's fair game to criticism and he's going to have to be able to stand up and take his lumps.

Hillary has taken, and is taking, her share of barbs and insults from fellow Democrats as well as from the right-wing. Not only is she taking a lot of bashing in this election cycle but for as long as she's been in the public eye, starting when she was First Lady, Hillary has taken condemnation and abuse from the media, the Republicans and from left-wing progressives who don't accept her because her policies don't fit into their agenda.

Obama is thin-skinned and doesn't seem to be able to accept any criticism at all. That's not a good sign for somebody who claims to be ready to be the most powerful person in the world.

He'd better buck up and take it like a man---Hillary is.
