Hillbot Hypocrisy
I see a lot of kvetching about some students in Iowa participating in the caucuses.

Why aren't you up in arms about Hillary staffers voting in local NH elections?

In my precinct, Hilalry's asssistant state director, political director, and at least three field staffers registered to vote on the day of the municipal primary election. So did Richardson's field director and a Biden press flack. They were all given a list of "approved" Democrats to support, ie, those who were not backing Barack Obama.

I guess it's ok for political operatives from Mass and NY to meddle in Manchester school board elections, but it's beyond the pale for a kid living in Ames or Iowa City 9 months out of the year to cast a vote for president.

6. I'll send you the voter file if it makes you happy
New Hampshire Union Leader knows about it.

It's probably legal, due to a loophole in the law, but if the Hillbots are so preoccupied with preserving the purity of the local electorate, shouldn't they set an example?

8. You should have informed the authorities, not the RW newspaper,
Post the file. We're big on transparency here at DU.

9. These people registered on 9/12 (primary)
Evan Carlson: Biden press secretary, former NH Democratic Party staffer

Michael Firestone: Clinton field staffer

Kevin Hodges: Richardson field staffer

Daniel Jasnow: Shaheen press secretary

Dana Kelly: Dodd field director

Heidi Mitchell: Biden deputy state director, former NHDP staffer

Blake Roter: NH Democratic Party operations director

Abbe Ross: Clinton deputy state director

Colin Pio: Clinton deputy state political director

Alexis Chininis: Former DNC staffer assigned to NH

Keep in mind, this is for only one ward in Manchester (there are 12 in all).

Haven't received the 11/6 registrant list yet, but I suspect there are more.

10. Blue Dog, why isn't this 'bigger' news?
The Union Leader should've exploded over this!

11. Good question
My guess is that it comes down to John DiStaso. DiStaso is the senior political writer, and he's very, very close to state party chairman Ray Buckley. Buckley effectively has "veto power" over stories, and since Buckley is a behind the scenese Clinton supporter, he isn't going to want to see this in print.

Again, it's probably not illegal, but it smells bad, especially when you have out-of-staters meddling in local races with no real national implications. The presidential race isn't going to turn on whether the Obama supporter beat the Richardson supporter in the Ward 3 school board race, so why bother screwing around like this?

3. Absentee...
I don't believe there's anything stopping Iowa students from casting absentee ballots if they'll be away nor stopping non-Iowa students from casting absentee ballots in Iowa if they so choose. I believe it's the same in Iowa as in Minnesota where students can choose where they vote. I could be wrong though...

5. There is a post here that explains they can't cast an absentee ballot for the caucus
I'm not sure which thread it's in but that option is not available to them.

7. Not in a caucus
Iowa's caucus system requires a voter to be present for the entire meeting.

12. "Hillbot"
There was a discussion about this topic earlier today, and I think the same sentiment is appropriate in this thread.
