Edwards raises 751K in November
Dear Friend,

Thanks to you -- and thousands of folks like you -- we raised $751,000 online for John's campaign. Our November online goal was $600,000.

That's $751,000 before matching funds. Your support during November is making a huge difference on the ground, where it really counts.

Thank you for all you do.

--Joe Trippi
Senior Advisor, John Edwards for President
December 3, 2007

P.S. And with just one month before the Iowa caucuses, we still need your help. Every dollar given means more doors knocked, more direct mail and more time available for our television spots

1. that's online
Trippi doesn't say what they raised outside of that. It still doesn't seem like that much. I'm surprised they didn't raise more.

I'm still confused about JE's funding status in the General if he gets the nomination. I know that's unlikely but it's not outside the realm of possibility.

2. Anyone should take the public funding for the general.
Edited on Mon Dec-03-07 05:29 PM by MGKrebs
I suppose it's possible to spend $50+ million in 2 months, but it hardly seems necessary.

10. It was all clean money too
They didn't have to hire people or mail out anything to raise this money... all word of mouth.

Ron Paul grassroot's movement is very very big.

You can click on the link above and check out the lobbyist and bundlers. Take a look at Kucinich and Paul, as well as the others.

Ron Paul is the first presidential candidate in history to make fundraising names & numbers publicly available in real-time. I'm not sure if those names are real, can anyone confirm if they are phony?

19. Thanks for the link.
The info is really telling. Also unnerving.

As for Paul... I watched his site for hours the day of the massive fund drive. My neighbors name was there and he did indeed donate. So as far as I know, the names seem to be legit. No doubt, his supporters are incredibly dedicated.

4. It's sad that some equate dollars raised with viability of a candidate. I prefer substance
The DLC candidate is always going to raise more money as they represent corporate interest and have lobbyists throwing $ at them. I would much rather have a candidate raising small amounts and representing the interests of the people.

8. What you said! How in the world can people be "proud" of voting for someone
who's bought and bossed???

5. True.
Edwards supporters don't have a lot of money.

We advocate with our feet, our hearts, and our minds.

It's one of the things that makes our campaign different from the others.

We are not bought and paid for.

What does that tell you?

7. Well, Edwards has been camped out in Iowa since early 2003......
so, I guess that in terms of time spent, he's far and away the leader in terms of Iowa's familiarity with candidates....even if he never seems to have any dough to spend there.

12. Actually, Frenchie, his first trip to Iowa was in January 2001.
He was sworn into his one and only term as a NC Senator in January 1999. It's obvious he considered his Senate seat nothing more than a way-station. Many in N.C. wish he would go on and make it official and move to Iowa permanently. LOL

Maybe he could run for some kind of office there. His polling numbers are higher in Iowa than they are in North Carolina. :o

Makes a very good point.

Edwards supporters don't have a lot of money to give - but those of us who can - do so regularly. I'm maxed out. Can't give anymore in the Primary. For those of us that maxed out in October - now all we can do is cross fingers for him.

16. No rush. He's already spent about $20 million, so with his spending cap of $40 million,
he can only spend another $20 million between now and next September.

17. Let's compare notes
with DK's money bomb coming on the 15. It's sad we have to equate money with running for President. For the People by the People should be renamed... For the Rich by the Rich.
