Calling it a difficult case to deal with because the resident, Marvin Otto, is a disabled war veteran, Chief Building Official Steve Carmichael recommended to the council that the house at 1510 Jefferson St. be torn down. He described the structure as severely degraded.
Carmichael said he and others had worked hard to find a way for Otto, who could not afford repairs himself, to get assistance in bringing the structure back to a safe condition. Ultimately, though, Otto had to relocate to two state veterans homes and now lives in an apartment in Omaha.

Marta and I moved to Bellevue (Omaha suburb) a year ago. This is from the local independent paper. A shame we treat our soldiers that didn't go to Canada etc... like this. We ask for them to help us, but we won't really ever do enough for them in return. This is my last post tonight. I'm under the weather with a migraine.
