Obama camp condemns 527's anti-Clinton ad
For its part, Barack Obama’s campaign says he wants no part of such tactics. “These types of ads have no place in the race for the Democratic nomination. As Obama’s record shows, he believes all campaign activity should be above-board and accounted for,” Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement today. The Obama campaign’s release on this topic also pointed to his earlier comments opposing such independent expenditure groups. “We do not think people should be donating to 527s,” he said last summer.

4. Yeah, you're okay.
But I was quite frustrated with tone of some of the earlier threads on this.

527s in a primary is bad, bad, bad, no matter whose ox is gored.

8. They're not allowed to run ads in favor of any candidate
They shouldn't be allowed to run ads against one, either. If they stuck to issues, it's one thing, but candidates shouldn't be involved. Before you know it, this is what's out there or what happened to Dean in 2004 or Kerry in the GE. It makes me sick.

3. Hmmmmm....anyone else sensing a short lived cease fire between Obama and Clinton?
Edited on Tue Dec-04-07 04:28 PM by rinsd
With this magnanimous defense being a kick off point?

Its been a week now of nonstop hurling at each other with the beneficiary being John Edwards.

I say short lived because I doubt it would last more than a few days.

:hi:

6. Nah, just posturing. The ads are intended to help Edwards, anyway.

9. Probably because he's their next target
Only partially kidding...It's smart politics in the middle of smear season, plus, go to their website; Hurowitz is pro-Edwards and has written anti-Obama columns.

17. I think Obama dislikes 527s intensely
But I also think you might have something there. No reason to suppose this would have stopped with Clinton.
