What's up with Edwards's campaign?
Before I get the "thanks for your fake concern" posts from some of you, let me say that I truly like John Edwards, and right now he is tied with Joe Biden as my 2nd choice (Biden's the best prepared, Edwards is the most committed to populist causes, IMO). Now, it's the first week of December, and while there is some movement in the first 2 spots (Obama is moving up, Hillary is still up but she is slipping slowly...), John Edwards is still in a solid, but considerably distant 3rd place in almost every single poll, and even his position in Iowa has suffered a bit lately with Obama and Clinton battling for the top spot.

Now, with about 30 days or less to go into the Iowa Caucuses: What's next for him? How is he going to make something happen for him? What do you think is going on with his campaign? I'm asking as a person that donates to Edwards regularly and wants him to do well.

1. I think what polls can't measure is solid organization.
Define "likely caucus goer" however you like, but Edwards still has campaign structure there from 04, which give him a solid base of voters already even before he started campaigning. I'm convinced these people who almost won it for him last time will win it for him this time, along with his new supporters.

11. His org. strength in Iowa is real
Strong point. I'd be very surprised to see him finish lower than 2nd there.

2. Smart money says Edwards still may win Iowa, Obama 2
Hilary 3.

So do not be too ready to discount him.

13. I give money now and then to Kucinich, Biden, Gravel, Richardson
And Obama, who I support for the nomination. I'm not rich, so it's never a lot, but the lower funded candidates need to be supported, too, or they can't even get through Iowa. The voters should be able to hear from more than just the big money candidates.

6. Hasn't history shown that pre-caucus polls don't reflect what actually happens in Iowa?

I'd say anything is still possible.

10. I think when he started going aggressively after Hillary people saw a side of him they didn't like.
Or maybe they see him as a phony when he claimed ignorance in his involvement in the hedge fund situation or when he claimed he took public funding for moral reasons when we all know it was out of necessity.

18. While other are squabbling, Edwards is on message in Iowa and New Hapshire, which makes less news
but delivers the votes.

Here's polls and a chart of Edwards rising in Iowa.

Here's DU's resident genius DaveD's chart of the national trend:

22. The media is ignoring him.
And Obama is a rock star.

I'll support Obama hesitantly over Clinton if/when Edwards fails in Iowa.

People in Iowa are saying if the C...were today, Edwards would certainly be the winner.
