Anyone heard if Kathleen Sibelius is being considered for Obama V.P
Mr. Carville recently suggested that Kathleen Sibelius, the popular centrist governor of Kansas, would be a
good V.P. choice.

Anyone in the Obama campaign have a comment on concept of an Obama/Sibelius Ticket.
It would certainly burnish his uniter image and once and for all signal that he is not
pretending to be answer to all our liberal prayers.

1. Anybody suggested by Judas Carville should be automatically disqualified.
Seriously, let's put an end to this illusion that the DLC has anything to do with Democrats.

13. He's supporting Hillary
I'm suspicious about the motives behind any advice he gives Obama.

2. Anybody who suggests a woman to run with Obama is an idiot!
Stop kidding yourselves! There's still a lot of people in the US who will NEVER vote for a lack man! There are also a lot of people who would never vote for a woman! Then you have some nut who wants to put the two together???????

Comeon! I don't like the racist attitudes, but to deny they exist is foolish! I don't like the sexist attitudes either, but again, to deny them is stupid!

4. so she should be disqualified
because she is a woman? That's not what Democrats are about. If there's any election to put up unique candidates its this one.

7. YEP! Be realistic! Ideology is wonderful when it works, but it rarely does!
I already said I hate that we still have racism and sexism in the US, but to deny that it exists is just damn dumb!

3. She could work
I've seen her name around here plenty, she probably would be the best fit for Obama considering she's an outsider, is a woman, and balances the ticket well in terms of experience and geography.

5. Women in America are ready for a Woman in the White House
The Kansas Governor would draw women and independents and preserve the Obama's changing "Washington business as usual" theme.

6. Mitch Landrieu
Yeah shoot me now with all of Mary's votes - but that's who I would choose as Mitch is charismatic, seems a bit better than Mary, can most certainly get scruffy, and puts Katrina right in the middle of it.

10. Interesting...
However, didn't he lose the NO mayor's race to Nagin last year? Wouldn't Mark Warner (D-Va) be a better choice to bring the South in vote wise.

Anyway, Obama needs Bill Richardson or someone like him who has serious experience

12. Richardson is such a lousy campaigner
That's the only reason I wouldn't put him on the top. I also think Obama has an opportunity to really give some of those southern states a run for their money and Mitch Landrieu would shake that up even more. Although I still think the odds are in favor of Hillary.

19. If Obama gets the demnom, I would go with a southern governor or former southern gov.
..that would be the smartest move, IMO:

Mike Easley, Tim Kaine, or Phil Bredesen, for example. Or former GA gov. Roy Barnes.

...next up would be a Western Governor...

Bill Richardson (although there are ethnic considerations - could an African-American and a Hispanic win in the GE?), or Brian Schweitzer.

...next up would be a Southern or Western senator - Jim Webb or Jon Tester. These two would be the most ideal because of their limited time in the Senate. However, Jay Rockefeller would be an interesting choice because of his former Governor's experience.

It would be a serious mistake for Obama to choose a woman, imo.

Obama/Kaine is an attractive ticket.

20. Uhh...no. Obama needs someone with foreign policy, military, and exec experience.
She might have exec experience, but that's it. And I wouldn't try to break too much new ground with this ticket. Plenty of men to choose from.

23. Check out my avatar.
1st of all, I highly doubt we will have a ticket with no white male on it. I just don't think that anyone who gets the nomination is going to want to "risk" that.

With that in mind, Obama will need someone (probably a white male) with lots of perceived experience.
Edwards will need someone with lots of perceived experience.
Hillary will probably want someone (probably a white male) who is "tough."
Biden has enough perceived experience that he could choose anyone he wants.

IMO, Biden has the greatest ability to pick an interesting VP. The others are a bit boxes in. I don't see Sebelius working for anyone but Biden.
