Six degrees of John Edwards
And folks of a certain age probably know Bacon best for the game "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon," which tries to prove the theory that any two people on the planet can be connected to one another in six steps or fewer.

So, how do Edwards and Bacon know each other?

As we learn from the Rocky's David Montero, a "six degrees" master of the highest order, they're practically related.

Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon - The John Edwards Edition:
1. John Edwards was on "Real Time with Bill Maher."
2. Bill Maher was in "Tomcats" with Jerry O'Connell
3. Jerry O'Connell was in "Stand by Me" with Kiefer Sutherland
4. Kiefer Sutherland was in "A Few Good Men" with Kevin Bacon.

The only thing Montero fails to mention is that this also gives Edwards a link to former President John F. Kennedy, given Bacon's very memorable performance in the Oliver Stone film "JFK."

2. Isn't the premise to be within 6 degrees of Bacon?
And thus connected to Edwards too?
Since they actually know each other, why would they need degreess. :) or maybe I am missing something. Anyway, I like Edwards using this. I'm geeky that way. :)

It does connect me quickly to Edwards :D

1. Bacon to Edwards - via the campaign trail
2. GW Bailey to Kevin Bacon - via The Closer (Bacon has directed)
3. Me to GW Bailey - via a theatre conference

3. I haven't thought of trying
so here goes...

1. Kevin Bacon to John Edwards.
2. John Edwards to John Kerry.
3. John Kerry to Bill Weld.
4. Bill Weld to me. (I was the cashier at his drugstore in 1993. He used to come in wearing a large, goofy hat - I think it was his disguise.)

5. It's way easier to get from Edwards to the real JFK
He was in the Senate with his brother. His time in the Senate likely links him to every world leader in no more than 2.
