Obama Talks the Talk, But Where’s the Walk?
Obama Talks the Talk, But Where’s the Walk?

By SusanUnPC on December 12, 2007 at 5:57 PM

At the Sunday rally in Manchester, NH, Oprah Winfrey stirred the crowd:

“Ain’t you tired of the old way of politics,” Winfrey asked. The crowd responded “Yes.”

Barack Obama recently said:

”We’ve had enough of … triangulation and poll-driven politics,” he said. ”That’s not what we need right now.’

Obama is rising in the polls because he’s expressing FEELINGS that people WANT to hear. People are worn down by the last seven years, and they want to believe what they’re hearing from a hopeful, fresh candidate. The problem is, it’s just talk. Here are some pithy examples of (1) Obama as the triangulator extraordinaire, and (2) Obama as a do-nothing — yes, a do-nothing.

2. Good article!
Exactly what I've been saying all along: Obama is all talk, smoke and mirrors and very little substance.

12. If HRC was any better..
... I'd give a shit. She's not. Her senate career is singularly undistinguished. Her positions on the most important issues dubious at best. She's famous for being famous.

I hope Obama kicks her ass, and then Edwards kicks his.

18. This is a pro-Hillary website
"People want change. But change from Obama? It’s illusory. Hillary Clinton has brought change for decades, fighting for women’s rights in the 1960s and 1970s when it was far, far tougher than it is these days. Fighting for children’s rights long before it was a common practice.

Obama is infamous for voting “present” on too many tough votes when he was in the Illinois state senate. He has skipped tough votes in the U.S. Senate. How can he possibly be that “the-buck-stops-here” tough leader we’ll need in the White House?"

3. I wasn't aware of Obama's absentee performance as a subcommittee chairman
Edited on Thu Dec-13-07 02:38 AM by Harvey Korman
or that he voted to confirm George Casey.

4. Very true but I think this is old news at DU.
Seems like I remember discussing this last week?

I always come here first for political news. DUers are all over it!

But I agree with your sentiment about Obama.

5. Larry Johnson is a Clinton supporter. This is a old/recycled hit piece but of course you knew that.
Too bad for him and you that Iowans think Obama is more than twice as honest and trustworthy
as Hillary "Never Met A War Resolution I Couldn't Vote For" Clinton.

6. It's good that you feel so confident of your choice.
Still think Clark's a good choice, too?

20. Yes, I do... especially since I'm allergic to sleezeball politics and loud cackling.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. :eyes:

7. Good point Barack ...
”We’ve had enough of … triangulation and poll-driven politics,” he said. ”That’s not what we need right now."

Which is exactly why we need the publicly financed Presidency of JOHN EDWARDS ( who unlike Obama is against Nuclear Energy ).

Just sayin'

9. Another hit piece by a Clinton supporter?
How sad that anyone would even consider her to be worthy of the office of President after what we have been through for the 7 years. Personally , I don't want more of the same and that's exactly what would get of hillary is elected.

Obama is about change. That's exactly what we need.

15. Oh but don't you know --
DU heroes like Larry Johnson, Wes Clark and RFK Jr suddenly become vile corporate owned bastards the moment they speak out as Hillary supporters!

16. So did HRC - who was one of the people who led the Democrats
against it and vilified John Kerry for it. Edwards did not speak out in its favor - at the time he did not want a deadline. Dodd and Biden voted against it. I read nothing about what Richardson said at the time.

Unless Richardson took a good position on this, I don't think ANY of them can claim that they led on this - though Kuchinich has been for a pull out since forever.

Hillary is SUPPOSED to do things like this. Obama is not.

19. I could ask Hillary the same thing....
Says she'll end the war, but will continue combat missions.

Says she'll pass universal healthcare, but will only commit to it by the END of her SECOND term.

Says she'll end cowboy diplomacy, then votes for Kyl-Lieberman the first step to war with Iran.

Says she'll fight for the middle class, but then takes hundreds of thousands from lobbyists. And then defends lobbyists.

She sure talks a good game. Universal healthcare for all, end the war, end cowboy diplomacy, fighting for the middle class. But then you look at the fine print....

Senator Obama is the real deal.

He's the kind of President we need. I would be very proud to have Barack at the top of our national ticket.

He may not be my candidate, but he's sure as hell EXACTLY what this nations needs.
